Merry Christmas everybody,
are there and different versions of the Beolab 2 subwoofer? Any technical modifications that have been made over the years? Different color options? Or was it the possibly only B&O item without any variations?
Thanks!
Kai
White was a later colour option.
In all the BeoLab 2's I've ever seen, I've never seen any variations.
As i've said, many many times, the BeoLab 2 'Pound for Pound, Euro for Euro, Dollar for Dollar etc) s the best value addition to your system you can get.

I also have one. It is really powerful. Not sure whether I prefer the sound with the Beolab 2 and my Pentas over the sound of the Pentas alone when listening to music. But the Beolab 2 has definitely way more bass than the Pentas and that's got to say something. Already on 50 volume you can make the dishes jingle in your closet.
I've thought that there may be different shades of silver on the Lab 2. In pictures, it sometimes looks like it. A darker more greenish one, and a silver-silver one if you know what I mean. But maybe that's because of how the lighting in pictures is.
In answer to your question about colour variations the answer is yes, they can indeed vary in shades of grey (not fifty though!)
From experience (and I've had a few!) it's always the later (newer) ones which have the grey a few shades darker. It's hit and miss though - I've had 2010 BeoLab 2's in a brighter silver than a 1997 BeoLab 2 - and I've had 2009 BeoLab 2's in quite a dark silver. No idea how, or why though!
PS : I wouldn't put a BeoLab 2 with Pentas. Pentas are so beautifully balanced I'd leave them as they are.
I have the dolby digital module on the old Avant CRT. Would you still not use the Beolab 2? Since I have also Beolab 5000s connected to the Beosystem 7000 in link mode, I could use the Beolab 2 there. Anybody tried the combination?
I have a blue Beolab 2 (thanks Lee!) I use mine with Pentas - too much for music but great with the TV!!

for movies and tv michael you won't be disappointed. For music, keep your bl9. the bl2 won't go as deep as for movies without bad vibrations and won't be fast enough,
that's a pity, otherwise it would be a wonderfull subwoofer.

I'm not sure whether I would call the Beolab 2 slow. It seems rather overwhelming and therefore not well integrated with the rest of the music. Maybe playing around with the options and positioning helps. The Beolab 11, however, integrates much better with, say, Beolab 3s.
On a side note: how can you clean the woofer and radiators on the Beolab 2? Would it be ok to use foam cleaner on them if they are really dirty?
