I wonder if some of you technically inspired members out there could give me some advice. Having owned B&O equipment for some years now, I decided to update the way I listened to music. I have now transferred all my cd's to my Apple Mac and through the advice of my local B&O dealer purchased the new Beolab 18 speakers in limited edition brass, the Beosound Essence with remote and the Beolab Transmitter 1. The wireless setup looks and sounds great. Now my question is do I need to install a DAC or any other piece of equipment to make this setup perfect. I would like to know what options are available and are they worth it.

Thank you for your interest and input. As I'm in the older generation, I still love listening to my music, although I think its hard understanding how these modern systems work and go together. I buy the WhatHifi magazine every month but find a lot of the products confusing. But I'm getting there slowly.

the Essence already has the DAC included/inside - otherweise you wouldn't be able to listen to digital files from the iTunes library (these get decoded to analog before the sound reaches you.
As I see it, you already have all that you need.
How do you control the setup - probably with the BeoMusic app?

Just attached my Beolab 4000s to an Amazon Echo Dot - sounds great and voice command of millions of tracks! Probably going to replace my Beolink system with Dots and keep the Beolab 5000 system for best!

I've just bought an Echo Dot, but not opened it yet. It was going to be part of the photo shoot this week.
How did it connect to the speakers? Wirelessly or via a cable?

Thanks. That's what I was assuming - bluetooth will also enable an Echo to link to a BeoPlay product. Superb.
I've already commissioned one of our writers to produce a piece around this scenario. Taking, say, the Echo and a travel speaker (A1) on the road.
