Hi, I'm new to this forum and I hope this is the correct room for issues.
Just received a beautiful A9 for Xmas, but I'm encountering lots of issues. I have just macs, TV, iPhone and iPad connected to my wifi, but:
- if I connect through AirPlay, after some minutes sounds starts to drop...
- i can't connect through Spotify Connect (it can't find Beosound A9)
- the only connection that works properly is Bluetooth.
Sorry but from a product that cost more than 2000 € i'm wondering to give it back, anyone had this issues and has solutions or fixes?
Thanks in advance.
Do you have the MK1 or the MK2? I have a ML2 and it works flawless. I don't think MK1 supports spotify connect.
I think it is a 2nd gen. A9, how i can recognize it?
Definetely MK2 I've the BT button on the rear left.
That's good. Do you have a premium spotify account? Spotify connect does not work with the free spotify account.
it's a premium, it does recognize other devices but not A9.....
Mmh, I am running out of options ;-)
Airplay shows, so the A9 is well connected to your network.
Did you update to the latest FW?
Have you tried to use googlecast from spotify to the A9?
Did you try to connect the A9 MK2 via LAN cable instead of Wifi? Bang & Olufsen seems to use cheap Wifi components that constantly lead to problems. We have this connectivity issues with Beolit 12 and Playmaker, too.
No, I've to find a cable before. But if it works, I think I'll return the Beosound, they can't use weak components on a gadget that cost more than 2000 €.
i think you're right because even on airplay sounds often drops out for seconds...
Ok, my software versioni is pretty old, but BeoSetup won't update. Where can i file latest firmware and manually install through Safari?

This happens to most of B&O's devices and I've mentioned on a couple of threads (including one just before Christmas) the secret is to give the A9 a fixed IP address, rather than setting it dynamically. All my BeoPlay devices lose the connection to my router using a dynamic IP address.
Also, check how your firewall is configured within your router. A firewall is designed to prevent all incoming traffic sending content direct to a device on your network, without your permission, which might be stopping your A9 from receiving a Spotify stream.
You might need to allow this Spotify IP range in your firewall:
78.31.8.0/2478.31.12.0/24193.182.8.0/24
Ok thanks a lot, but now I've got another problem:
My SW is 1.0.138.55633567 and it won't update...
Why? I'm looking for a firmware file to update it manually but no way, it seems not to exist in all the web...

This is similar to the Spotify issue. Your router firewall could be blocking the A9 from receiving the (update) stream. Give it a fixed IP, then allow traffic to this IP on your router (open up that specific IP address).
This isn't an A9 issue, but a very aggressive router with tough security for devices on your network.
So it should be the Airport Extreme?
First thing first: check with an Ethernet cable.
If it works, investigate on the wifi side (bad wifi and/or faulty A9).
If it doesn't work, reset your A9 to factory and restart the installation from scratch on Ethernet.
If it doesn't work, try on Ethernet with another router (family, neighborhood, office...).
If it doesn't work, you may have a faulty A9, it happens...
If it works, moxxey is right.

For example, I can't use airdrop at home : I get a "Firewall denial of service" message, but it works flawlessly at the office with another box...

No, your existing router is fine. Set up the A9 with a fixed IP in your BeoSetup app (you've to also insert the router IP etc) and then within your router, configure this so that this IP allows traffic across your router firewall.
Ok, is 100%.
i've tried to connect to a new wifi network created ad hoc with my iphone as"personal Hotspot" and i succeeded in upgrading firmware and work with spotify connect. Now I have to understand how to set my router, as i have to use my home network, and i think it will be not easy...
is 100% a router problem i mean,
giorgiomassa: is 100% a router problem i mean,
Yes, the iPhone has no firewall so will let through all traffic on any device, on your network (ie. anything connected to your personal hotspot).
SOLVED
Ok, I solved every issue configuring it manually, now it updates and connects to Spotify Connect.
IP address: 192.168.1.85
Netmask: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 192.168.1.254
Primary DNS: 62.101.93.101 (given by my provider)
Secondary DNS: 83.103.25.250 (given by my provider)
So the problem is solved if anyone in the future will occur the same issue.

Isn't that what I suggested in the first place? :)
Your help has been crucial for solving.

Bravo !
But is that all what you did (fixing the IP adress = point 1) ? What about point 2 ?
Nothing at the router. Just inserted parameters in BeoSetup. It worked perfectly just when inserted DNS parameters on my third attempt. Not in the first when i inserted jusip and subnet, and still nothing in the second when I inserted the Gateway IP
well done for your persistence, not sure if i would have been so patient......anyway, should be worth it, i've had a MkII A9 for a while now, its a superb one box speaker, probably the best around......and sorry you had issues setting up, mine was fine and a breeze compared to the previous Loewe airplay speaker, which was so problematic......anyway, enjoy...
