Hi,
I have bought the beovision 14 55" 3 weeks ago - and i love it!
.. but some things is really bothering me:
1) after I added a HDD, then its not possible to get an alert when a specific tv-show is on - this due to that the new "record" option replaced to old "plan" option - can I get i back somehow?
2) The tv guide keeps crashing - do you know when the next software upgrade is planned?
3) Chromecast streaming keeps crashing - it worked smoothly on my old beo11
4) when I power on my tv to radio it often turns on normal tv and vice versa - have you experienced the same?
5) can I add spotify as an option directly on the remote?
thx
andersenpost: 2) The tv guide keeps crashing - do you know when the next software upgrade is planned?
I can only answer this one - but my local dealer claims that all these BV14 issues will be resolved in March in the next big software update.
It's ironic, as I enquired about moving up from my BV11-40 to a BV14-40, last October, and was advised to (temporarily) hold on this idea....until the sw issues were fixed. Since then the darned BV14-40 has had two price increases in the UK! Cheers B&O ๐๐ผ

How did you do that on the 11?
MM
There is a tv - and there is a BV
I bougth an chromecast and attached it to the usb on the back :)

Oh well - first time I've heard that.
Usually you - like with any 3rd party devices - you connect it to a HDMI port ;-)
I have a chromecast connected via USB and HDMI. the top connections panel on the 11-55 make it very easy to connect both. i haven't even tried the spotify app on the TV itself as the chromecast does a great job
Of course that is the way to do it.
However, you will have to activate the HDMI port used before playing back, because it is an external source.
This said - that is less annoying than seeing the Chromecast chrashing all the time on a BV14 :-(
So why not do the same on the BV14?
My dealer told me, that B&O will rollout a software update at the end of january, which will fix the major problems.

BV 14-55 mit BL 18, BL 8000, BL 2, BeoRemote One-BT, ATV 3; BS 9000 & BS Core & BS 4500 mit BL 12-3, BL 12-2, BeoLink 1000; BeoLine mit BC 2, BC 6000; BS 8; BeoVox CX100; BeoTime (analog), BeoTime (digital); Earphone A8; Beoplay H3 + P2
I had a brand new BV14 installed early November and it has been a nightmare. All sorts of issues from "no signal" whilst watching something on SKY, switching itself off during use, no control at all from remote for long periods etc etc. Dealer eventually replaced with another brand new set after 4 weeks. It was better in some ways but problematic from the start, it could not find my BL 18's using WISA despite them being almost next to it! Since them I've had various messages about power controller not working and YouTube has stopped working. The latest issue is it switching itself on during the night so when we wake up we have SKY without picture!
Iv'e owned several B&O Beovision products over the last 16 years and cannot recall having these kind of issues ever!
Im currently awaiting a reply from my store manager about imminent updates and its affect. I'm about ready to send it back and buy something else!
anyone else out there with the same issues?
Same problems and more. You are not alone.
BartS: Same problems and more. You are not alone.
Well that's reassuring in a negative kind of way! I just wish B&O would come clean and inform its customers. It should have never been released to the market in it's current state. I really love it when it's not misbehaving but get so frustrated when it is.
Have you you spoken to your dealer about compensation?
Yes. The dealer network and B&O are fully aware of the issues. And I have been convinced that they do the best they can do to get the platform stable as it is going to have a very negative impact on the brand. I am curious how B&O will compensate "early adopters" of the new BV platform as 5 / 6 month waiting for a stable software version is not acceptable.
I'd suggest - by giving them a free M5 ;-)
I agree. It will put a significant dent in the brand as in normal circumstances we, the consumer, would not expect or tolerate this standard. If I had bought a OLED from Currys and had these issues it would have gone back weeks ago. It's only the commitment and assurance from B&O that has stopped me seeking a full refund!
Im currently awaiting an email from my dealer. It may include details of compensation offers. If it does I'll let you know. I have asked for info on the schedule of software updates among other things so I have something in writing.
Thanks! The stability update is scheduled to be end this month anyway.

It's it's anything like the BV7-40 SW debacle I had to go through, which went on for nearly a year, it takes B&O ages to fix problems such as this. Sure they "do their best" but remember these TVs are approximately 10x the industry standard, in terms of pricing. You'd expect them to be pretty much perfect from release, not make customers bug-test their TVs in a real-life scenario.
... and that is exactly why B&O should do the very best they can and show customers they do. If they are not able to fix the many issues in a reasonable time (in a few weeks, not in months or years) it will become the end of the brand. Or at least the end of all software driven Beosounds and Beovisions.
The TV Radio thing sound like a set up issue. Have you checked the allocation settings? I'm not using the internal tuners/radio as I'm using SKY Q, Apple TV, Nvidea Shield and a Sony BlueRay player.
all the other stuff "may" be sorted soon! With the next software update.
any news from your dealer?:)
"We expect a software update in week 5 to resolve most, if not all, of these "teething troubles". Another update is expected in week 10.
That was the last message from BeoCare last week...
Karel.
Do you know, which problems will be fixed with these two updates?
dealers have an email from B&O with a long list of issues that the update will address........multi-room is not part of the week 5 update, that will be part of the week 10 update......
I believe the dealers were giving buyers an Apple TV initially......and subsequently a free A1.........i got 400 pounds, which i used against my new BS2 (which i really really like).........such a shame, the BV14 is such a magnificent looking unit.......
andersenpost: any news from your dealer?:)
I've badgered my dealer for specific information about the "imminent update" and all I could get was "At the end of the month" with many issues being resolved!
The second update date will deal with multi room issues. This will come end Feb beginning of March
I pushed him on compensation and have been offered a 3 year extension to my warranty or a BP A1. We were given a free Nvidea Shield as part of the initial install to get Netflix UHD (Apple TV is only HD). It's not been very successful though. It screws up the sound porcessor so when you close Netflix and return to SKY it all sound very wired.
Here's hoping that we will get a stable system worthy of the B&O badge soon.
I got an Nvidea Shield and have been offered a BP A1 or warranty extension.
yep, audio issues aplenty...and similar to yours......switching from my Fire TV 4K box back to TV(SKYHD) and the sound goes all weird / slow mo / garbled.....been main main issue, that and the audio signal just disappearing..........Android TV is about to release 7.0 version, wonder if B&O will make that part of the upcoming updates....(doubt it).....
Same here. Offered a BP A1. Marvelous equipment giving its size!

The compensation is initiated by B&O due to lots of problems and the expenses of the compensation are also for the account of B&O. The dealer does the communication with B&O.
I may may add that it's a pretty poor offer from such a company for all the hassle we have had to endure!

My post failed to include the pasted text!

I have to say, it's a poor offer from such a premium brand given all the hassle we have had to endure since release.
Ive had a message from my dealer today with an insert from B&O. It doesn't say anything new really.

I don't think it is a regular general compensation. Nevertheless I notice on this site that the A1 has more often been offered as compensation, so I think it is offered by B&O in case the complaints become too much for a specific BV or the pressure is raised too much by the owner and/or dealer.
It is at least a compensation for five months with a very, very, very unacceptably unstable BV. Note that I own a Horizon and not the more expensive BV14, so if the compensation is enough....
I have my fingers crossed for the update on January 31 and hope that at least the major stability problems are solved.
Tuesday should give Beovision 14, Horizon and Avant NG owners the long waited relieve of stability issues..... Can't wait!
I hope the update is not postponed again.....
It is planned for release on Tuesday, yes - for the multiroom support etc you will have to wait untill March/week 10.
