I know. At this moment the stability is my main concern. It is really that bad....
Here is the latest from my B&O team.
Finally the tv was software updated yesterday! :)
Experiences so far:
No crashing of the android menu / tv guide
More smooth load of menues
Have you guys found anything new and exciting in the update?
Installed it yesterday evening. Update went smoothly; remote was also updated.
First impression
The Good
Picture looks smoother/sharper.
TV does not start-up anymore with the latest watched device; but starts up with the correct device selected from the remote
The Bad.
Bass-management bug is back (was resolved in interim update of november).
Will do a deepdive this weekend... #fingerscrossed
Karel.

Thanks for your update. Similar impressions on my side. Only the bass management bug has never been gone in my case (but I own the Horizon, so maybe that is the reason).
Update went smoothly on my 14. Picture seems sharper.
Not aware of any bass issues with the TV speakers.
What are the symptoms?
BL8000 & BL11 connected to the TV.
Have 2 speaker groups. Start-up and Audio.
Start-up: "surround", all speakers configured
Audio: "stereo" only BL8000 and BL11; internal speakers disabled; used for radio, BeoGram and Apple TV music streaming.
When switching to Audio through the remote the music sound flat; lack of bass; only when selecting the Audio speaker group a second time the bass kicks in.
Will need to do testing for the Start-up group this weekend.
Combination BL 8000 & Beolab 11. The bass management settings in the speaker menu are switched off every time the BV is switched on. The Beovision does not remember its settings. You have to dig deep into the speaker menu and activate the bass management settings again and again.
I can also subscribe the remark by Kuyttendaele about having to press a speaker setting on the remote twice to add bass to the sound.
One thing I still missing is this:
1) after I added a HDD, then its not possible to get an alert when a specific tv-show is on - this due to that the new "record" option replaced to old "plan" option - can I get i back somehow?
Can you guys help me with a trick or?
tentative thumbs up so far....managed to connect matrix properly now, and control all sources...hooray!
seem to be able to add apps (BBC iPlayer) to one of the my buttons...which i think is new......
i'll postpone judgement re stability for another week or so.......but so far, ok....
Hope it's okay for me to ask a question related to the software, even if I have a Horizon and not a BV14.
Question is about brightness: I can specify a brightness on each Picture Source, plus I can specify a brightness with the Picture Mode. Let's say I set brightness for HDMI1 as 10, while brightness for Movie Mode is 45.
What happens if I select source as HDMI1 and put the picture mode as movie? Which setting wins?
Anybody else have problems that room adaption does not work in the new software update?

Is it still going well? I've had good days and bad days. Some of the old issues still there, like switching itself on and pop up banners. Also had a couple of complete lockouts! Getting really disgruntled now.
Has as anyone managed to get the BeoRemote app working? All I get is "No Bang and Olufsen products detected on this network" even though they are on the very same network! Once I get that message I cannot get past that screen.

are Android phones this unstable ?
Hi guys and thank you for your response.
I was also told to power down for at least 45 minutes. It was after that things started to really wrong! I had to reboot 5 times (completely locked out) and reboot the remote in order to get control again. During the reboot I got all sorts of error messages. It seems to be ok now and has been for the last two nights. Here's hoping!
I was was told by dealer that BeoRemote would work after this update, I guess not.

Seanie_230: How this can be such a mess is beyond me.
How this can be such a mess is beyond me.
It is a mess - but they've been there before. BV7-40 SW issues.
My local dealer told me not to go near the BV14 until the next major software update at the earliest. A B&O dealer, warning a customer not to buy one of the products in the range! How crazy is that? But good to hear their honesty.
its interesting that, on the BV14 at least, if you look into the Android settings on the TV, there are an enormous number of apps open and running......npot sure exactly how significant that is, but many of them seem utterly irrelevant (judging by their names).........
Just by interest - can you run these BV's without having a Google account?
Can you delete app's without the account.
How far 'google-free' can they be used?
MM
There is a tv - and there is a BV

LOL! I had exactly the same thing said to me Chris by a different dealer in a "not too distant land" from our happy neighbourhood!!! It is quite bizarre I agree.
B&O products are V1-32, BS2, H95, E8 and an Essence remote.11-46 now replaced with Sony A90J 65”, Sony HT-A9, Sony UBP-X800M2 and Sony SRS-NS7.

You do not have to login on a Google account to use the BV's. I think Androïd is to "deep" in the system and that deleting system apps (if possible) will cause even more problems. Not only Android is the problem. The audio engine - which is B&O as far as I am aware of - also has bugs.
Thanks BartS
Just thinking how far can you go without Google - and if deleting apps would help.
But you are probably right - it is the integration of the AdroidTV engine and the B&O elements (including the audio engine) that is the problem.
I fear that they - with the LG/B&O tv's just around the corner - will never succeed in repairing this 'freak'!
B&O just dressed up a chinese crap platform... sorry to say that, but the only "innovation" is the wood front, the rest is a big step down. If it was the original Hisense TV it would be okay, but not with the Bang & Olufsen text on the device. Bang & Olufsen takes us customers for a ride with these devices! That shows the decision quality of the top management, too. Yes, hate me for that, but it's true. I love Bang & Olufsen but it hurts to see what they are doing and how lousy... I should stockpile another few Beovision 11 as a backup if my TV dies some day.
While the problem are annoying (I have them myself), your analysis is too simple to be useful.
You are ignoring the picture processing engine, the sound configuration, the integration to other products and the other stuff that also goes into a B&O television.
Some elements are lacking and it is disappointing that a TV with so fundamental problems was released, nobody is disagreeing on that. But to say they just dressed up a Chinese TV is ignorant at best.

As a (former) prospective purchaser, I find it very useful!

You can't build a great high standard house when the foundation is lousy. That's what B&O tried here with this cheapo thingy. I'm glad to read about the issues here, it just confirms, that it still is a wise decision to better buy a Beovision 11 or the Avant.
The perfomance of the Beovision 14 (and some other B&O products) is inacceptable. If it was sold for e.g. 2000 Euro okay, than it would be just okay and the typical issues of nowadays crappy cheapo products, but if you adorn yourself with buzzwords like luxury, high quality craftsmanship, high end etc. you HAVE to deliver to be taken serious. They've clearly lost the track and they seem to work very hard to convince people "Oh yes, Bang & Olufsen, isn't this the overpriced designer stuff that sucks and only looks good?". I don' think that this is the right way a reputation should be targeted at...For all Beovision 14 customers I hope that B&O will fix it to have them satisfied with their purchases!

I agree with you on that.
The biggest problem, that I see, is that the guys in Struer already must be deeply involved in the getting the new (LG/B&O-) tv working.
How much time will these few guys have to 'repair' the current platform?
Some of them are still (and thanks for that) working on the BV11 etc platform.
My guess - after the big update in March we won't see much work on the AndroidTV platform (?).
Hopefuly that update will be sufficient for those to be ok.
Guy: As a (former) prospective purchaser, I find it very useful!
I hope your analysis is not based on his opening statement that B&O is basically rebranded Chinese televisions. That would be far from the truth.

I have been very close to demanding full refund on a number of occasions. The only thing that has stopped me is that when it's working (without fault) it's stunning and what would I replace it with? I have researched the possibilities and could do it for a lot less money but I do no think it would realistically be the same experience and functionality.
I have also considered demanding a loan BV11 untiL the issues have been sorted but it's shuch a hassle to uninstall and reinstall. An engineer is coming this week to check all settings and replace the remote (again) as the one I have does not update fully apparently!
i was offered some " compensation " in the form of extended warranty from 3 years to 6 years, I may need it at this rate!
I think that is a good point, and i have had similar thoughts...clearly there's been a lot of instability issues with the new TVs, and i agree its not acceptable, but lets not lose perspective too much.....its a beautiful design, the sound is excellent, the audio engine is great too, and i even think that, post-update, the picture quality now looks excellent (sure there are a few better LCD/LED high end screens out there)........my lingering question is about Android TV, not because it is by nature this unstable, more over whether B&O have the chops to sort it out........an Avant seems the only alternative if you want to make a change........
I was in the market for a tv last year and boiled it down to a straight choice between a Sony and a Panasonic. All reviews pointed to the Sony and I all but pulled the trigger but ended up on the Sony forums - it was alight with complaints about Android tv - poor Sony must have wondered what had hit them! I bought the Panasonic and haven't looked back, however that isn't my point but this-
I think maybe that the android tv operating system isn't just a "big phone" but different enough to still be underdeveloped and it hasn't caught on in the way im sure they'd have hoped. While im sure b&o are culpable for releasing untested products I would look to others like sony to see if they've managed to resovle their issues - if not I would advise giving android powered models a very wide berth.
Ban boring signatures!
Hi
I must say that almost everything works perfectly for me after the update !
Do you guys also get a error message when trying to open the Netlfix app ? "This version of netflix-app is not compatible with your unit"?
/Kim
interesting.....i updated, had a load of crashes, was told to power off for 45m,clear the caches........crashed again, repeated, and since then....absolutely fine........
