Would it be possible to pair a Essence remote (the round puck) with the BV14?

Most of the time I'm at my desk listening to music coming from my BV14; the remote of the TV is in the sitting corner.. so a 2nd small remote would be handy at my desk... juist for volume and switching tracks...

Karel.

Your question is IMO too important to get forgotten.

Unfortunately I don't have the answer (someone?)

But I expect that it will be made possible with the goming update - or later.

The last line of the table in this post (here http://archivedforum2.beoworld.org/forums/p/11344/134944.aspx#134944) (and also the description of the new mode 11) makes me think that it's possible...

That is when you use it with an ir-capable tv!

What is the 'new mode 11'?

I should have known, since I wrote a post just before that ;-(

However, I am not sure, that this is 'right' - at that time there was no BT version of the BROne.

I'll ask my dealer next I'll be there.

And there is now ... i.e. BR1BT ... so surely it should work ... if the BV14 is set to BR1BT mode (if there is such a thing)

@elephant

A BV14 only works with the BT-version of the BROne!

Would be fine, if you are right - but I'd like to have it confirmed ;-)

Received an answer from BeoCare:

"Hi Karel,
Thank you for contacting Bang & Olufsen Customer Service regarding your BeoVision 14.

Unfortunately, it is not possible to use the BeoSound Essence Remote with the BeoVision 14. Alternatively, I would suggest using the BeoRemote app when BeoVision 14 supports this at a later point in time.
I will make sure to let you know as soon as I know the expected date for implementation of support for the BeoRemote app.

Wishing you a lovely day.

Kind regards,
Ina Bang Andersen (Ms) | Customer Service"
It's a pitty that the Essence remote won't connect to the BV14 :-(

So does this mean that the BV14 can either be in IR mode or BT mode, or is it only in BT mode, and there is no IR receiver active? Even so, I can't reconcile why the Essence remote in BT mode can't be used with the BV14. Surprising also, that the BV 14 today according to the BeoCare message that Karel received, is also not yet able to be operated by the BeoRemote App. Seems like a lot of the little things weren't thought through before release.

The BV14 has no ir-receiver built-in.

It will only be possible to use the BROne/BT with it - and the app, when time comes.

Why there is/can be no support for the 'wheely' (BT) is (still) a mystery ;-(

Thank you MM. That really does seem like a very strange decision by B&O, especially knowing that for almost their entire history all of their devices have been completely reliant, successful and effectively used IR in a flexible and user friendly way. To now introduce a device which seems to be an orphan just makes no sense to me. Especially for folks who have other B&O with IR receivers. Strange strange decision.

It would make sense to have a TV with both BT and IR, which would be a transitional device, but no IR for a TV at all? Interesting. I wonder what B&O have up their sleeves?

Received another reply from BeoCare regarding timing of a software update for the bv14:

"So sorry to hear about your BeoVision 14. I hope for your patience just a little while longer.

We expect a software update in week 5 to resolve most, if not all, of these "teething troubles". Another update is expected in week 10.

So sorry for the inconvenience this causes you in the meantime."
