Many thanks to development team of B&O and the members here who participated in the beta testing. Can't wait to receive the update within due time!

I hope there will be comparing program for beta testing the software for Horizon/BV14, as there is still much fine tuning to do. If so, I'm more than willing to participate.

BV Horizon 48 / V1 40 / BL 17 / Beoplay S3 all black

BS Moment / BS 3000 / BS 3200 / BL 400 all silver

Suggest you contact your dealer. The "real" update (non beta) is supposed to be out to dealers this week, and distributed to customers week 9.

So maybe easiest just to wait just two weeks.  Its worth the wait Smile

Received a letter from my dealer over the weekend. It holds an invite to a workshop on the beosound moment, being a owner of one, as new software is to be implemented within weeks and they will be providing hands on instructions on it..

That is a nice gesture. And probably the reason to why dealers get the release before the general distribution.

You will love it. Smile

Thanks to Lyle i did get yesterday the Beta (sorry Lyle, for some strange reason i've always been writing Hi Clarke Big Smile

The new software is a fast improvement (wich is, to be honest, not to difficult). The feeling of the whole thing is now much smoother and most positive things wich have been written before i able to confirm. So I think we are on track. Here are MY thoughts after my first testings:

Search: Search is fast and i really like the new separation between Deezer and Local. The only thing i found strange is that when i search for a artist and i tap on it, the Moment starts immediately play random music from the artist. My expectation would be, that when i tap on the artist, it shows me the albums and if i tap on a album, it shows me the songs on the album. Because sometimes im searching for a song, but i'm not sure of the band or title. To make this possible you could, for example, make a distinctions between tapping on the name (starts playing artist or album) and tapping on the picture (Gets you down a level deeper (artist, album, song). If you wanna go a level up you just tap on Albums or artist again.

What i'm missing: I like to crawl trough the library and sometimes i see a song which i would like to add to the play queue. So i would be nice if you could to the that directly from the tablet (for example by tapping more than 2 seconds on a song).

Joining a Link-Room is still a hassle. I would be cool if i could join a Link by just double-tapping the wooden-ring in the middle (in my case, the music starts in the morning in the sleeping-room, then i move to the bathroom and then to the living room, so the essence is starting anyway, in the bath i double-tap on my beosound 1 but i the livingroom i have to turnaround the tablet and swipe a view times to get there). I know thats rather a wish from someone really lazy, but hey, we've spend some money Wink

But maybe thats just me. Cool

Cheers

Urs

This is on the list for coming updates, as far as I understand it. You can also press Join on your Beoremote One if you have that, at least if the Moment is linked to e.g a Beovision 11.

When you search for an artist, you have also the option on the same screen to browse the albums linked to this artist, as well as the tracks where you see the album they belong to. And to finish, you even have the playlists and the radios in relation to this artist. Isn't it what you are looking for at the end of the day?

That's ok for me as long as i search in my own library. When i search lets say someone lets say with the name "Madonna Nash" you always have to spell out the full name. When i don't know the exact name (for example, i now the band name was something with Pink), i will get too many hits. Especially in the Album section. But don't worry, thats now really nagging on a high level.....

I'm normally not looking in the playlists seciton. I tend to browse through my library and deezer, i see a song and would like to add it to my play queue. Today have to this on my ipad (via the Beomusic app), would be nice if i could to that on the Moment too. But again, nagging on a high level....

I'm happy with the update so fare...

That would be perfect. I don't own a Beoremote One and that will stay for quite a while this way, because i'm not looking for a new TV (Beovision 10 with Beo4)

No, but i guess the more likely place would be the Beomusic app (and there is nothing yet).

On the Deezer app on your iPad you can define if you want the highest quality possible.

Do you have that setting on the moment or is it just defaulted to .... ?

The Beomusic app is end of lifetime (at least on Android).

The new X Bang Olufsen will replace it by time (now in Beta). It could be a request for this new app.

There is timer option in the BeoMusic app when browsing the Moment, it appeared a couple of updates ago, but it directs you to an error message as the Timer function does not exist for this device . I reported this behavior to B&O already, this option should be device aware.

The option does not exist on the Moment. We can assume that HQ is the default as lower quality is beneficial to mobile devices only. But B&O confirmation would be nice ...

I've been reading this thread very intently, and I'm seriously considering upgrading my Essence MkII to the Moment, especially with word that this new SW makes a world of difference in the usability of the product... bordering on it being potentially an entirely new experience for the end user. Can someone please answer a couple of questions for me... For those using the Moment with Twonky pointed to an iTunes library, are you seeing static playlists that you create in iTunes, on the Moment? Secondly, I read earlier in this thread that search has been greatly improved, can someone demonstrate the search feature by maybe posting a video of conducting a search on the Moment? I'd like to see how usable it is. My use case for the Moment will be strictly to listen to music from my personal library, managed by iTunes, housed on a NAS. Thank you!

.... that is the highest MP3 rate Deezer offers (unless you are using a competitor hardware and a Deezer Elite subscription that offers 16 bits / 44,1 kHz FLAC format, in which case you are contributing to this forum).

Yes Sal.

Assuming you configured your iTunes library to be on the NAS, by editing the twonkyserver.ini and setting the ituneslib to the iTunes Library.xml full path, you can make the iTunes static playlists visible to Twonky, so to the Moment.

In my case, the iTunes library is on /Multimedia/iTunes/, the ituneslib must be set to "/share/Multimedia/iTunes/iTunes Library.xml"

Thanks Again! Worked like a charm!

Firstly, somehow, Twonky was doing this for me automatically (I was seeing playlists) as I had never had to modify the ini file before. Perhaps after moving from a Mac to QNAP, and/or upgrading SW versions of Twonky, something had changed. No matter, thanks to you, I know know how to do this. What other tricks are possible?

Do you know if it is possible to modify the INI file to enable the Artist Index list option to A, B, C, etc... instead of ABC, DEF, GHI, etc.?

Yep, that is one of the earlier versions of the Beta.  Its not radically different in terms of GUI, other than the clever search function covering Deezer and DLNA simultaneously. Using Bluetooth is simple. Once you device is paired, and you start playing from your device the Moment switch to that "source".

Simple I would say.

Thanks for that, helpful.....hoping the Bluetooth pairing is easy, i.e once paired, i dont need to do more than select it from my iPhone when i get home, without needing to touch the Moment.....2 questions......1. assuming also that control is done on the iPhone once connected, not on the Moment (beyond volume i guess).....2. hopefully the bluetooth stream can be distributed to multi-room speakers.......

if the Moment  works well for my NAS ripped CD collection, TuneIn, Vinyl line-inned,  and the Bluetoothing in Tidal and some podcasts, then i think i'm good to go......will spend some time at my dealer having a play first though once the new software update is done.....

The Moments now works perfectly in harvesting any collection on your DLNA, up to 96/24 definition.

Playlist also, place them in your main music directory and here is an example od a m3u list.

That is how it works

Correct

2. hopefully the bluetooth stream can be distributed to multi-room speakers.......

I don´t remember if its possible to do multiroom using BT, but I think it is. Can try tonight.

Vinyl line-in works well. I have a Beogram 2200 connected. I just need to press play on the Beogram and Beosound automatically sense the signal and switch to Line-In. You are able to set the sensitivity on that input.

I use VLC on a Mac to create a m3u list.

Very easy: Open some music directory's in VLC and save them as m3u file on your desktop and next I remove all unnecessary text with the text editor so you get a clear text list as the above example.

Keep in mind you have to use VLC on the same computer to get the correct director's automatically in your text file. If not, then you have to point manually the correct director's in your file.

Yes, the pad must be correctly to point them to, but if you have one file correctly pointed use copy paste for the rest... Otherwise Twonky won't find them.

Hmm ... I skipped some Twonky some time ago. Using the internal Media server on my Synology now. Would that be an issue you think?

Chris - I have removed the m3u files I had in the music directory processed by Twonky in order to leverage only iTunes ones (it saves me the time to use another tool + extra file editing for path alignment) but the corresponding playlists still appear in Twonky UI, even after rescans and even Twonky server restart. Did you ever face this issue?

Hmm, don't know anything about playlist on Synology, Google is your friend? The answer will be somewhere on a forum...

How is the directory structure made on Synology? If you know how to write it then it could not be difficult.... I suppose it will also be something as /..../.../ ...flac

Yes, you have the remove them from within the file with a text editor: Twonky Library.twonky or otherwise (its a large file in your main Mac directory) close Twonky server and remove the file completely.

Restart now Twonky server and a new file will be created without those lists. Remember you have to fill in again all your Twonky credentials in Twonky server.
