I have installed the new Beta Firmware yesterday too. And I am totally impressed. This firmware is fantastic. The 2.0 version was great, but this firmware is terrific. All problems I had before are now gone. There is no standby-problem anymore and the response of the touch wheel is much more better as before. The connection between my B&O Speakers in the apartment and the Besound Moment is much more stable, nearly perfect. No delay, no drop-off, nothing - just music! :-)

B&O did a wonderful job in improving the Beosound Moment with this new firmware.

The only think I don’t like in the version >2.0 is the fact, that the „now playing“ screen doesn’t appear automatically after a period of time. For example, it looks very unaesthetic when you used the new search function, played a song and the display still shows the search-screen. This behavior is illogical for a music system. Another example: When I start a playlist from deezer I would like to know, what is the name of the song just playing. I want to to see it on the screen. I want to choose the next song. The fact, that the moment shows in this case the playlist screen is illogical, too.

I am one of the first owners of the Besound Moment and with the old firmware <2.0 it was an awful device and it was a shame for Bang & Olufsen. Many of my friends laughed about me, when I have to get the paperclip to reset the moment. This was the running gag when we have a party. One of our friends made us a package of paper-clips as a gift. This is now all gone. Wonderfull!

Before I got the new firmware, I thought of switching my complete B&O audio equipment (Moment, Beosund 35, Beoplay Speakers) to SONOS equipment. We are just rebuilding our apartment and we are installing a Smart Home System called DIGITALSTROM. This smart-home-systems works perfectly with SONOS speakers. Now I am thinking of buying a Beolink Gateway to connect my B&O equipment with the new smart-home-system. Last week I asked 3 B&O dealers for the BLGW, but they had non experience with that. I think I have to try the installation on my own.

I am very courious what we will see in our Beosound Moment software.

Thanks for this improvement!

Who else would like Moment to automatically go to the Now Playing screen when music is playing? What are your thoughts on how long the time-out should be? What would you set it to, if there was a setting?

Also, is there anyone that does not want this behaviour? Can you tell us your reasons.

Cheers

I think that going to the "now playing screen" is a must from all screen after 60 seconds as (1) it lets you time to search for something else if not satisfied with the 1st search result (2) play another album or track from your collection if not satisfied with the initial choice (3) choose another mood in the MoodWheel.

I think it is a great idea to let the Moment do this, but I am thinking if it is time to add a "user settings" section under Settings ? The more great features the Moment has, the more people also have different opinions and use cases.

In this case, a "Go to now playing after OFF/10/30/60/120 seconds, would suit every user, as they can configure it as they would like.

I bet more things in the future could be added in this section.

Users of Bang & Olufsen products has been used to, and also loved, that people had spent a lot of effort in designing the products, sp their functionality suits 99% of people, but the Moment is much more that just a "normal product". Is has the possibility to be configured by the end user, and I really think this should not be overlooked.

The Moment is a music system where the default values for everything might suit 70% of the people, but instead of spending a lot of time figuring out if 30 or 60 seconds is the correct way, then doing this "user settings" section, where you can make 100% of people happy, is a great idea.

There are also things about the Moodwheel that could configured in the future, for instance whether it should continue playing in the next ring, when running out of songs in the current playing ring.

*Settings

     * User

          * Interface

              * Goto now playing.....

          * Moodwheel

              *.....................

I think this would be fantastic :)

What do you think ?

Agree it would be a good feature/ characteristic, going to the now playing screen

I would say 30 seconds or so sounds about right, not less...

Set a default value (of 30 sec) and make a 'user setting/configuration possibility' for those, who want to tweak the setup.

I'd say first iteration to have now playing with a 30 or 60 second time. Next iteration a user configurable option (sorry was in Agile thinking mode) Big Smile

A "user interface" would be a great idea, to personalize the moment.

I would add the optional possibility what kind of songs are shown in the collection menu. In my eyes the collection menu is quite confusing or inflated if you add big playlists e.g. 50s, 60s, 70s,.... or if you add "one hit wonders" to your favourite songs.

Just got the moment a week ago - The "now playing" way of working had me miffed (POLA  violation if you ask me) - think there is a couple of options - Once a selection is done - e.g. within a short interval "now playing" should be the options; Need a short delay to allow me to change my mind; One on the "now playing" I would expect it to return to where it came from

Hi all,

Since the new official release of the 2..0.66 software it works very smooth. One thing I noticed is that when I use search function (i.e. artist), after selecting an album I cannot see the numbers but the Moment starts to play the whole album.

I would like it to work with more detail so I can find an actual number from an actual album and select it to play from the search function.

for instance: type madonna under artist, then select album from the findings, select album madonna and have an overview of all numbers and then select song Holiday

Is this feature up for new updates? Maybe it is in already but I do not know how to operate Surprise

Thanks for your thoughts

No, this is how it works, and I agree with you, there should be someway of "drilling down" to see the numbers of a searched album. But.. if you know what song you are searching for, then just select "songs" instead of albums.

The only way of doing it now, is to "heart" the album, and find in under your collection to see songs. If you then don't like the album, do a search for it again, and the search result will show you the albums you have hearted as the first results in the search result.

But... I don't find this interface totally intuitive either, I guess it is difficult to make it simple yet complex at the same time.

Thanks Jacob, then this feature is on my wishlist.

Maybe Lyle is able to elaborate on this topic even more? Maybe it is too complex to add this feature.

Hi,

I completely agree.

What misses me is to have the artwork of the album/song playing rather than a picture of the artist;

If such an option could be placed in a User Interface setting menu, it would be great.

Yann.

Thanks everyone for your input about timing out to Now Playing screen. The next beta release has implemented this at 60 seconds. Thanks for the ideas around settings too. We are listening. Our challenge as designer and developers is to get the mix right, we know that most people do not change settings, so the default behaviour needs to suit the majority.

Speaking of settings. If you could prioritise just 1 thing to be controlled, or made optional by settings. What would it be?

the best option, from point of view, would be to start music (default) to a user defined multi room setup.......though thats a big ask....

with respect to smaller things, more functionality related, if the Now Playing screen is more central given the proposed update, a "repeat track" option would be great.....maybe the option can be seen when the track is tapped and the progress bar is invoked....

anyway, i'd reiterate my first point about multi room settings.....

First and foremost - I give a big thanks - especially around how playlists now keeps the track order which is a great improvement Big Smile - I would love to be able to select what multiroom device it's playing on as you can do from the app. I basically use the Moment instead of having to go to the app so that would be great.

completely agree.......as the new app becomes better and more overall functionality gets folded into it, i think the addition of proper multi room to the Moment is crucial to keeping it relevant.......it would be a shame if Moment owners just ended up using the app a lot more than the Moment itself.......

i would be so happy if i could do proper multi room, even, as suggested earlier, being able to tap the Moment to get music going with a setting of lounge  +  bedroom for example......

By adding the album name under the artist name and the album cover, or artist image if not available, the NP screen would have all the information we need to identify what's currently playing: The source (Deezer or local), the artist, the album, the visual, the track! what else ....

agree, album name under the artists would be very useful.....and would make a difference........personally, i don't mind the artists image, but can see how thats a bit subjective.......but album name, yes definitely......

Thank you for the ideas. An easy to use Expand screen for multi-room is a request we see growing in popularity.

Regarding extra information on the Now Playing screen, are you able to say more about what the 'trigger' is that makes you want more information about what is currently playing?

Are you triggered by music playing that makes you wonder, 'where do I know this song from?' and then you look over to the Moment and wished that it could show you this information from a distance?

Or perhaps you are wanting a bigger 'experience' out of the playing music, and you feel that the album art is part of this?

Or maybe you are thinking that showing all this information all the time is part of how most music apps are, so therefore it is missing here in order to be complete.

Or maybe you just want this information to be easily accessible when you are thinking about it.

The above are some of the things we have heard from others. It would be interesting and useful for us to hear more about what it is that triggers you to want more information, and how that fits into your music listening/browsing experience.

Cheers

Lyle, i think it is a bit of all of what you mentioned....

I'd reiterate that if the Now Playing screen become a bit more used / upfront etc as discussed yesterday ( an idea i like), then (a) the album that track comes from is really useful, and stops me running off elsewhere to look for the info....and that is generally shown in music apps (just looked at Tidal and Apple Music)........and (b) the album vs artist art i regard as less important, i quiet like the artist art to honest, but others may prefer the option to set the background to the album cover.......its a nice to have option, as opposed to fundamental, like displaying the album title alongside under the artists name in Now Playing....

I'd also say again, as others have, that while some playback functions are present compared to streaming apps, certain things are missing.......for me with respect to playback, a repeat track option should appear when the track is tapped and the progress bar appears......

Tidal has a useful three dots on their equivalent now playing screen.....it brings up a few useful options....some are covered by the Moment's gestures, but the "Go to Artist" and "Go to Album" i can see being a useful addition to the Moment's Now Playing screen........obviously, we don't want to compromise the Moment's simplicity, so i've kept my suggestions fairly minimal, for want of a better description........

more than happy to help.....

I agree with Sandyb

Q1: Are you triggered by music playing that makes you wonder, 'where do I know this song from?' and then you look over to the Moment and wished that it could show you this information from a distance?
A1: For large DLNA collections owners, where many versions of the same track coexist, when the currently playing track catches listeners' attention, it is very useful to identify the source album to potentially discover more on this album. This is specially true for classic or jazz music where interpretation is key. Currently, I have to go back to iTunes (my music organizer) to locate the track and identify the album.

Q2: Or perhaps you are wanting a bigger 'experience' out of the playing music, and you feel that the album art is part of this?
A2: Personally, my "image" memory is stronger than my name memory, so it really helps to identify the album by its image on top of the name.

Q3: Or maybe you are thinking that showing all this information all the time is part of how most music apps are, so therefore it is missing here in order to be complete.
A3: No

Q4: Or maybe you just want this information to be easily accessible when you are thinking about it.
A4: Yes, and I link it to Q1.

I really agree this mbolo01.

I like to see improvement of making different playlists. Now we only can, add music to ''Favorite Playlist".

Ordering other playlists must happen with the "Deezer App'' or ''Beo App''.

It would be great if you can make different lists on the Moment. One of the reasons why i buy a Moment and not a Essence with iPhone/iPad, to have a stand alone device without using a smart device.

If yes, and i'm sure its been discussed before, i'd be interested as to why i can / cannot be done....

I saw a lot of interesting suggestions passing, but my guess is that in a complete managing you would loose the easiness of handling of this machine, something B & O is known for.

There are other ways for the more experienced to manage the Moment sources.

With the release from last night - The soundheart  no longer plays out through the TV - making matters worse it seems block the other multiroom devices out of the BeoMusic app - Only thing I found that solves it - is to turn off the Moment - and wait - Hmm. Weird

I can say all is working flawless for me.

I can't wait for DLNA support. I will be commenting more then ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ’ฏ

At the moment, it feels like the moment doesn't know about all the tracks I have on my NAS but I have rebuilt the database and refreshed many times.
