Beroli:
B.t.w. Your conclussion about the file-size is not always right, since theMoment supports high resolution file-formats as well - and some lossless file formats are pretty big either.
Maybe my remark was not accurate enough. I revered to the tag part of the file. Files with a large tag part seem to be tedious to read/analyze by the Moment and the BS5e

@ Carolpa,

just wanted to have the last word Big Smile . Kidding, you were right about the tags - but sadly the tags are not the reason, why my Device is being so annoying, when it comes to DLNA

@IA64,

If you own a large music-collection on a DLNA-Sevice (NAS, Software-Server...) and you have created DLNA-playlists too, you will face some terrible issues.

But (there is always a but) - if you just want to use Deezer, TuneIN and a smaller DLNA-collection (less twentythousand, no playlists on the DLNA-Server) or no DLNA at all, you will surely enjoy/love the BS-Moment very much (like Hiort, Carolpa, SandyB, Ionfred enjoying theirs). This is the focus group for the Device.

My DLNA-collection is very big, I want to use my own DLNA-playlists. This is recently not possible in a proper way, B&O knows that, since 2015 and they try to fix it since then. If you are in the focus-group, stay clear from the Beta-Test-Group. You may stuck on a broken device for a very long time with no support from B&O at all.

If you want to have a feeling for the brand, I recommend to read the thread "LifeStyle AV - Changes Part 1 and 2" from our esteemed host 9 LEE. It sums up almost our current feelings about Bang & Olufsen. I don't know, if I would start nowadays with Bang & Olufsen, again.

But since you placed the order and if you want to prepare your setup until the devices arrive, I recommend to read the whole thread "One month with the moment" from Hiort. You will find some good advises, regarding the setup, preparations (tagging, creating, playlists...) and DLNA-Servers too.

Have fun - and welcome to beoworld, Bang & Olufsen

Cheers Beroli

My configuration: BS-Moment on a gigabit network, steady Wifi (perfect signal), BV Avant, 5 speakers connected to BV, 2 essences MK 2, several speakers, TVs and some B&O fashion devices (BeoPlay). Tested with minimServer, Synology NAS, Twonky installed on a macmini (only purpose to serve the Moment), PLEX, DS Audio ...

Hi Beroli, you are making an assumption that I do not use playlist in DLNA. Actually I do!

And yes, even these work properly in the Moment............... could you publish a m3u text file over here. Just to compare with the ones I have put on my DLNA server.

My summary would be:

2.1 software

Pros - much better than 2.0, nice search function, better screen navigation, Moodwheel working as expected, better cover management, more stable

Cons - Very bad at managing large DLNA collections, continuously harvesting, very poor compilations albums management, Patternplay on JB screen side debatable.

2.2 beta software:

Pros - none as cons are preventing collaboration work on enhancing large DLNA collections management

Cons - update process is scary (requires multiple JB reset), Introduced serious wired/wireless speaker issues which prevent the device to be used, advanced DLNA settings while promising are not persistent, Loudness setting is not persistent, cover management is very painful, compilation management is worse than 2.1, B&O no longer responsive

Hi Carolpa,

I am sorry for making this assumption. I red mostly posts from happy people about the Moment and mostly they own small DLNA-collections and no self-created playlists. I have created 68 playlists. The whole DLNA-content including the said playlists are visible and accessible after the first harvest - until the second and the third harvest kicks in. At this point the content vanishes on the BeoSound-Moment while still accessible on other devices than the BS-Moment. Even the X-App is showing the DLNA-content including the playlists. The harvesting is then on a permanent loop. It never stops - the database corrupts until I start over.

Reset Database, first harvest (perfect Device, perfect access, perfect DLNA-content), second harvest (vanishing playlists), third harvest (content vanishes), Reset Database .........

Your assumption, that there must be something wrong with my playlists, is not right either. There is no need to publish your files. I was able to use the identical DLNA-content with other Software-Versions (even 1.x) before the latest 3 Beta-Versions. As I understood, you are using minimServer - indeed a good decission. But this server does not support the expert-mode for large Collections, because of no possibilities to share a photo-folder. You see, you can not compare your setup to mine

Cheers Beroli

for the record and for completeness, i also use playlists on my DLNA server without problem.

I use a Synology NAS for my locally stored FLAC files - i am not that technically minded, but my DLNA playlists have been easy to manage using the Synology UI, and the Moment has had no issues with them.

My local collection is not huge. 300 albums so roughly 3000 tracks. About 25 local DLNA playlists.

Sorry Beroli, but you just made another assumption by saying I cannot compare your setup with mine? Do you know if I tested Twonky before? Do you know my experience with Twonky? Do you know I have experience with other DLNA servers? Do you know why I choose Minimserver? You simply do not know!

Thank you for your detailed reply. Actually my library consists of around 18K FLAC / lossless files ( discographies )

My dealer refused to go connect the Moment through Wifi. He said it's not as stable as the LAN so I am preparing for an internal network using gigabit switch..

I'm planning to wall-mount the moment. Does anybody know the optimum height for this ? I find the stand a bit low since I'm 6' and my wife is 5'10.

Configuration ( Avant 55 + beosound moment + BL20s )

Hi Sandyb,

it really seems to be a issue with larger local collections. Carolpa had no issues with his 20 000. B&O is aware of these issues - but failis to provide a proper recommendation/ a decent manual or their specific test-setup. They just said they test with 40 000.

Could you please answer some questions of mine?

1. Which app do you use to create the playlists on the Synology? AudioStation?

2. How is the order of the playlist-tracks (artists, track01, track02... or scrambled) on the BS-Moment?

3. Is your Synology going into hibernation sometimes (volumes/device). How do you prevent any hibernation?

4. Is there a time lag until your content is accessible?

5. How is your Synology conected to your network?

6. Which device do you use?

7. Does is support Link Aggregation? Do you use Link Aggregation?

8. Have you installed the latest DSM (DSM 6.1.3-15152 Update 1)?

I am asking, because I had to use Twonky, minimServer, Synology to test the betas - but I faced the same troubles with all said Servers. I am to tired to change the setup again and use the device currently as a Deezer-only-Device. In previous DSM-versions the playlist were limited to a small amount of tracks and the were completely mixed-up in their order. Maybe it is now different and I could give it a try again

Cheers Beroli

I'll do my best to answer

1. I use the Music Station app on the NAS (apologies its a QNAP not a Synology, was going mad for a moment)

2. i don't really have any issues with the ordering. They appear in the right order, though i think the track number of the parent album appears.

3.. I don't believe my NAS goes into hibernation - didn't do anything from the out of the box set up, so can't be sure.

4. NAS is connected to my router via ethernet cable.

5. I use a QNAP 251

Sorry, my Synology mistake may mean your questions are no longer relevant, my bad.

Apologies.

Your welcome Big Smile

Regarding the ethernet-connection - your dealer is right. The Moment is much snappier, if you connect the device over ethernet. With flac-files it is almost mandatory.

Regarding the wall-mount. I had the wall-mount. It is easy to access while walking by. I would recommend that you take your wife's height as standard. You know WAF? Just let her point with her fingers to the wall while stand in front of the wall with her ellbows bent to 90 degrees. At this height the BS-Moment will be used from your wife too. I have sold the wall mount, and put it on a small B&O shelf, since I wanted to see the recent song while sitting  on a couch.

Stick out tongue I don't.

@ SandyB

Never mind, that happens. Thank you for answering. You just triggered my nosiness, by stating the Synology. That's why the flood of questions. The QNAP-Server is the better choice, since you can install Twonky on it. Still, the Moment works best with Twonky.

Dear Carolpa,

I never wanted to hurt your feelings. I am aware, that you are a well-red and a very well-informed user of the Moment, since you are participating in this forum for a very long time. I always enjoyed your posts and input. I just stated in the previous post your recent setup - you wrote about it some days before. I know, that you’ve tested Twonky before and that you are indeed very experienced. The reasons for choosing minimserver are obvious to me, since this software is well programmed, stable and not as demanding as Twonky. Nowadays you are on minimserver and therefore it is a fact, that you can not use the expert mode with it, if you want to add artist-titles. Your collection is recently smaller than mine. Therefore you can not compare your recent setup with mine. I included your findings, answered exactly to your questions (what I did and why) and explained the current behaviour with the latest beta on my BS-Moment. I explained, that the device is working properly until the second harvest kicks in. Do you have any suggestions to that?

I do appreciate this forum and the help from eachother.

You criticize my attitude, while asuming, that my tags are wrong, covers to big, my playlists-false created or that my setup is wrong at the same time - not knowing how much efforts I put in this device since the roll-out. If you mean my attitude regarding “Know that, done that, been there, does not work for my settings“ then maybe you should teach me how to answer in a more politely way. Again I appreciate you and your input and I think we are very much alike Big Smile

It makes no different what size the libary has. I have a small collection +/-86 albums, +/- 1200 tracks, no playlists, same problem here...

I just add the cover arts to another folder, remove the old covers, add the covers etc....

First day it seems good, but the moment is restart harvesting, problems come back again, it's showing some deezer arts on different albums...

ID tags everything i have checked serveral times, all good

Hello bs206, can't you place some albums in the cloud so I can add them to my server?

See what's happening.

Try using Media Monkey to inspect Album art when there's a harvesting issue.

I wonder if the Moment's DLNA software is trying to add lower res covers, creating a multiple cover issue

Is it possible for you now to give an estimate of when you expect the problems with the Moment to be solved and an upgraded software to be available?
(...)
Well, I'll post it here if I get a time estimate. But my guess is they won't be willing to commit to a time table, which might be wise I suppose.

Just received a reply from Beocare:

Hi Henrik,

I am very sorry to hear this! I was just informed that a software update resolving the issue will be released today. The version is 2.1.1.3728/2.1.1.14529.

If you experience any new issues - or the issue has not been resolved contrary to expectations - then please report these to your dealer in order for all necessary details to be logged with the development team.
Crossing my fingers for this then... I'm gonna be home late today, so I'll be watching the forum closely during the afternoon to see if anyone beats me to the update, and what your experiences are.

Hi,

May you elaborate your answer?

For the time being, I embedded the album art in the FLAC files, so do I need to put jpg files in a separate folder?

If yes:

- What name for the main folder?

- What name for the album art?

Thanks,

Yann.

Yann - As Hiort was talking about "Artist art" and as we are in the 2.x forum thread, I was referring to the new 2.2 Expert mode where you can choose to manage your own "Artist art" by leveraging a DLNA Photo service by placing images in a given container.

Album art are sourced in the music file as usual.

Same here but then with speakers hooked up to the Moment. Did the update. Same issues as I had before the update. I did a complete reset on my Moment hoping it would help. 18 and 19 speakers were again not recognized at time of scanning wireless speakers (during setup) so left me with 3 speakers named Other. Continued setup and finished everything. Left the moment for a while so the Jukebox switched off. Manually did a rescan of the wireless speakers. Recognized correctly now but I do not have any sound anymore coming from the speakers although the Moment seems to play music. It is an utter disaster.

Will leave it alone for the night. Maybe tomorrow I have sound back again. You never know...Crying

Interesting — seems we are running different versions even after the recent update. Beotool tells me that I‘m on 2.1.14259.

Norwin:

Will leave it alone for the night. Maybe tomorrow I have sound back again. You never know...Crying

I did the software update late yesterday evening, but had to wait until this morning to try it. Dismayed at first, as the problem persisted. No change at all. I mailed this to Beocare and got the following reply:

Hi Henrik,

I can't begin to tell you how sorry I am about this. It seems to be causing some issues that you were running on a beta software prior to the update. Would you be willing to downgrade to a version which the technicians claim should work?

Kind regards,

Of course I wanted to try, so I then I got the following instructions:

Hi Henrik,

A downgrade has been made available to you. The technicians sent me the following procedure:
The beta tester then do the following steps in the software update settings:
1. Set “Automatic software update” to OFF, otherwise it will be an endless update loop.
2. Check for update, a “2.2.14259” should be available. This is a fictive number for the “2.1.14259” release.
3. Wait for the SW update to finish.
4. Verify the SW version by pressing “Notifications” then back to Software update to make sure it updates the version number. It should now be “2.1.14259”

Kind regards,

At first, after having done this, I was dismayed again. It seemed the problem had only shifted: My right Beolab 18 started working again, but at the cost of my 19 going silent... again...

But then I did a full factory reset. To be honest I only did it so I would be able to say that I had tried that as well. I didn't really have any hopes it would work. But this time the speakers were listed with their proper names during the initial setup after the factory reset, and they actually made sounds to identify the right/left speaker, like they should. They haven't done that during inital setup before, after I started having troubles.

To conclude a long story: All speakers are now working again, like they should, and the sound quality seems to be back as well. And I have been spending the afternoon catching up on three months of no music.

-h.

Hi everyone,

I'm using since yesterday the latest beta-software (2.1.1.3728-2.1.14259). What I want to know if this is a version which has got the 'expert-mode'?

Because I want to change some pictures of artists, but I can't find the explanation how I can change this artist-tiles.

Is there somebody who can tell me how I can change the artist tile?

Thank you

I have a very stupid question, how do I airplay to my moment. Had on my Itouch a podcast and thought I would listen to it while cooking. Normally press the airplay icon and the list comes up but the moment does not come up. I have the moment playing through speakers connect to my V1?

the bathroom, bedroom and office essences show up but not the moment.

any ideas?

You can't AirPlay to a moment but you can use Bluetooth to play from your iOS device

You can Airplay to an Essence or other available product and link it to the Moment, works great!

Berolli this was my same idea with the playlists. There more than one way to make a m3u......

Where can i put the files?

Try using Media Monkey to inspect Album art when there's a harvesting issue.

I wonder if the Moment's DLNA software is trying to add lower res covers, creating a multiple cover issue

Thanks! I have download it, and take a look at it
