Where do you see 'anything B&O' in that tv-set?

I think he's referring to the new technology (Dolby Atmos etc). He wants to see it in the forthcoming B&O/LG TV.

Have fab picture! Be up to date with HDR and Sound formats with the B and O magic Big Smile

B and O Design with latest chips sets and not half missing stuff that's main stream in today's 4K LCD/Oled world.

If B and O Is building a tv with LG.Then the tv should have everything.

With a quality frame around the screen and a solution to the wires connecting it to the box, that could be B&O.

Beo Century ,Beoplay V1, Beocenter 6, Ex-Beolit 12, Beotime , A8. Beolit 15 , Form 2i , Beolab 2000, Beoplay A3.Beosound 1

indeed, if Loewe can do it more or less, B&O should be able to.....question is, will the B&O set have 2016 LG screens or 2017 versions?

2016 versions were obviously very well received, but did have a couple of minor drawbacks....picture processing / upscaling not reference class, and brightness slightly undermining HDR content......anyway, be interesting to see, but if LG's own new units shown at CES last week wont release until mid-2017, then we could be looking at late 2017 for the B&O set, at the least.......

Even Sony did it (I think with LG panels)... The A1 is very nice looking... B&O should move more quickly now.

What would this LG TV have to be for it to be a  B&O TV?

Good question - what makes a BV a BV?

I know that we all will have some preferences there - we discuss this often.

But -

On the technical side, it must have some of the core B&O video technologies......such as Vision Clear (shouldn't a LG/BV have a sensor for adjusting the picture to the surrounding light based on analysis of the incoming signals?).

On the audio side, it must have the core B&O audio engine within...which includes the TrueImage processing (up/down-mixing, basmanagement etc), PowerLink connections as well as Wireless PowerLink connection - and a proper built-in speaker system.

It should also be NL/multiroom compatible.

On the design side - I certainly expect B&O to be bold and fearless enough to give us something more, than just a naked piece of glass and an huge, ugly soundbar - which will be problematic to find a right place for. Think of all the different placement solutions, we are used to from a BV.

Whether they will (and how) add Atmos and alike decoding and processing to the audio engine, is a big question (how many will really need that?)

In case of yes, I would not expect a soundbar (with a half-baked Atmos speaker solution). They are very good at building speakers - the existing portfolio is big, suitable for most users and needs.

However, if someone is pleased with the LG solution, he should just get it - why wait for a B&O logo on a similar tv-setup solution.

One must not also forget the control with one remote and PUC. According to the info obtained by Moxxey from dealers, the B&O OLED TVs should be available the third quarter of this year.

Jean

Sure, it would be crucial to leave out these features.

If B&O would use the "Signature W " screens for the new Beovisions, there are certainly not much to work with design-wise, just being 2.57 mm "thick" Smile

Only thing would be to work with the connection/soundbar box (apart from the image / sound processing). Maybe popup acoustic lenses like in the cars. Look like LG did something like that on their soundbar.

For a TV to be BV:

The total must be far more than the sum of its parts

These speakers on the Atmos bar are upfiring speakers - needed for the illusion of having a proper Atmos setup.

Acoustic lens technology is mainly used for a wider dispersion of the higher frequencies - in order to make the soundfield broader.

I can think of many ways to design it already. I've seen the thin OLEDs of LG and when they are demonstrated they are usually pushed out a bit from the wall so you really see the thinness of the screen. I think this is what B&O would do too. Also I think they have electronics that gets hot inside and require passive ventilation. So some space might be good maybe for that reason too if it doesn't ventilate through the panel itself.

LG now has demos with screens where the panel itself are the speaker. Extremely interesting I would say! This could be something for B&O as well. As many are using extra speakers the center doesn't have to put out a lot of sound (even tough this model is said to do that anyway).

As we see on BeoPlay and B&O speaker range I think the upcoming models of TV will be wider than before. Maybe some with this hidden speaker, some

Without. Probably still non OLED tvs too. But... we will just have to wait and see. I think maybe we can inspire the designers a bit using this forum, but just a little. Surely a few B&O employees are reading through the forum.

Beolab 50, Beolab 8000 x 2, Beolab 4000 x 2,
BeoSound Core, BeoSound 9000, BeoSound Century,
BeoLit 15, BeoPlay A1, BeoPlay P2, BeoPlay H9 3rd Gen, BeoPlay H6, EarSet 3i,
BeoVision Eclipse Gen 2 55", BeoPlay V1-40,
BeoCom 6000 and so much else :)

Are you sure you don't mean this one:

P.S. I don't agree on your comment on the center speaker - IMO it is the most important speaker in a multichannel setup.

I do not think thats needed. The mounting concept with the "W" panels are that you simply stick them on magnets mounted on the wall.

LG were showing OLED panels with acoustic surface sound at CES from what I have read....sounds like Sony got the whole thing from LG Display.....there's an article on the Verge today on it.....they really liked the sound, for whatever that's worth

Have you heard back from her? I guess it cold be some start of the LG & B&O cooperation?

Looking forward to that I not planning to buy into the current TV range when they don't stick with the android/TCL system.

...but do remember, that connecting some speakers is not the same as having a powerfull audio engine like in the BV's.
