I just ordered a BeoSound Essence MkII. I'm trying to understand which sources will streaming to multiroom. Is AirPlay the only sound that will not go over multiroom? Can I bluetooth to my essence and join my A9 gen 2 by tapping it or do I need to use one of the streaming sources on the essence?

Any clarification would be great! Thanks.

Correct

AirPlay is limited , but Spotify is another that will not stream over BeoLink.

The Bluetooth connection WILL stream to multiroom

Hi,

You can stream Spotify connect to B&O multi room, as long as you are premium account holder.

I am now, with my essence 2 and a6. A few people on here seem to think this isn't possible. But it is, which is good Smile

So just AirPlay, unless you have an Apple TV connected...I think I have read. Not tried it though as mainly use line in for tv (non beo), tunein, Spotify and dlna for my NAS.

Any other questions please ask

These are great options! I will most likely stream bluetooth then spread that to the other B&O multiroom products.

For iTunes NAS, do I use Twonky from B&O's website on my mac?

think people who use NAS drives use a variety of media servers (Plex, Kodi, Twonly etc).....there's been a few threads previously on this.....

https://www.flatpanelshd.com/downloads/BeoLinkMultiroomWhitePaper.pdf

the link above may be useful, a white paper on multi room setups and limitations i think.....and yes Airplay comes with Apple restrictions, though if you Airplay music to an Apple TV it then works fine......(its what i do a lot, as my BV12 is generally on a lot)......the BS treats it as a video source, so the restriction doesnt seem to apply......

Agree with sandyb, you can use a variety. I used Plex fine with my iMac and iTunes. Up to you if you want to pay for Twonky. I use a dedicated NAS now, and just use the built in media server on that with no problems.

I sortof agree with you SteveGee.

I do think any product with Spotify connect can join the Spotify feed.. but I don't think you can BeoLink multi room Spotify connect.

At least I can't.. I can only make it link to other Beoplay products.. but not to my beosystem4 or my converter

mjmedlo - Ah I see. I was only talking about the new products - as that's all I have and as the essence 2 and A9 were mentioned in the first post.

Good to know though, thanks

That's correct, the limitation is that it will work with other multiroom products that also support spotify connect, but not with those that do not.

Martin.

there is a rather easy work-around for airplay/spotify to go multi-room. just use the line-in. i have an airport express at one line-in and a chromecast audio at another line-in.

flawless multi-room with b&o nl :)
