what are the limitations of the BeoMusic iPhone app? Is it similar to Airplay? (16-bit, 44,100 kHz)

I have lossless music on my phone and would like to know if I can stream it to my Beoplay A9 and A6 without downsampling.

also since the BeoMusic app uses the built in Music library, does it update soundtrack play count?

Not sure about the sampling element, but there is Apple restriction on multi room sharing with AirPlay.....in that you can't do it.....so you won't be able to stream from an iPhone for example to the A9 and then join the A6.......Airplay multi room only works via an Apple TV, which is treated as a video source

yep, that is the reason I'm looking into the beomusic app, because of the restrictions of airplay.

would be nice to know if the beomusic app lets you stream at least CD quality.

Where is your music stored I.e. Where is the A9 receiving its music from?

I'm no expert but if they're in the iPhones native music app, then it will stream them in Apple lossless.....which should be absolutely fine and acceptable to an A9/6 quality wise.....

I got more into music listening recently and ended up concluding that streaming from the Tidal or iOS Music app to my A9 is fine, regardless of what iOS was doing to the source... both your speakers are pretty decent but are still one box units....

I use FLAC files in my main /lounge when I want to sit down and listen to music more in the foreground......

Not sure how important multi room is for you?

No transcoding/downsampling happens.  The Beoplay will gets the files direct from the iPhone in whatever format they're in.  I can't say for certain, but I don't think the play count gets updated (because they aren't played on the iPhone).

currently i can stream music via airplay to both of my speakers using iTunes on my iMac. I have an Apple TV but I never tried with it.

but would be so cool to use the one touch join feature and as you said earlier, its not possible with airplay, so I have to switch to the beomusic app.

are you sure about that? do you have any source for this?

I have 24-bit 96,000 kHz apple lossless music on my phone, I know that probably there would not be any noticeable differences 16/44,100 vs. 24/96,000 on a beoplay a9, I'm just curious if B&O's solution can handle anything above CD quality. (Chromecast can candle 24-bit/96kHz)

see spec's; actually it can.

but I do not know if a HD stream from an iPhone will reach the A9 as a HD stream
