Hello Forum!

I need some clarification on the integration of a Beosound 9000 into a new Multiroom-setup.

I have an NL/ML-converter, and I am about to purchase 3 Essence MK2 for my home.

In B&O advertisment material, the BS9000 is portrayed as one of the units capable of being controlled from the Beomusic app. See photo: http://www.bang-olufsen.com/~/mediaV3/Home/Collection/Apps-and-accessories/BeoMusic-App/Desktop/beomusic-multiroom.jpg

My B&O dealer was not sure about how it appears in the app, and he suggested that maybe the BS9000 must be connected via a Beolink Gateway in order to show up. Any knowledge about this? When it shows CD3, one would assume that it can perhaps also start and stop and change the CD/go to AUX from within the app. Is this possible?

The setup I am hoping for is as follows:

Living room:
I hoped to place the BS9000 in one room together with the NL/ML Beolink Converter.

This way I can play music to my Essence products and join what is played on other Essences - is this correct?

Should the speakers be connected to the converter or the BS9000 in this case, or does this not make a difference?

Other rooms:
3 other rooms would use Essence stations, 2 of which would be placed in a cupboard and operate via IR-eyes. I have read different experiences with this on this site, and it seems to work well with the newer 'Join' eye. I love the idea of Essence-functionality coupled with the tangibility of a good B&O Remote. So far so good, I hope. Any experience or point of view is appreciated. Are there limitations to using the IR-eye?

However, my B&O dealer suggests that instead of connecting the BS9000 to the NL/ML converter, I simply buy a fourth Essence and connect the BS9000 over line-in. To me this seems counter-intuitive, since I already own the Beolink NL/ML Converter. And surely, with a line in connectoin I will not see the BS9000 in the app, as protrayed above. I am bewildered. What are your thoughts on this?

Best regards,

StKong

this is how it show when the BS9000 is connected and integrated with a BV11; nl/ml converter is in use.

I can control some very basic things with the app; note: no speakers connected to the BS9000

Thanks, Carolpa. Very interesting to see both the TV and the BS9000 in the same square. I gather that it is the right way forward to connect the BS9000 via NL/ML.

When you say basic things, what exactly are we talking about?
PLAY/PAUSE, CD-selection, other inputs?

Thanks a million!

as VMaster; BS option 0

BV11 - in Setup "link to other products" set to BS9000.

Correct. Aux input depends on how the NL/ML converter is set up.

Thank you, Carolpa. I am far wiser based on your comments!

My dealer wrote [translated from Danish]: "You install a Beosound Essence in every room and attach the Beosound 9000 via line-in to one of them.(possibly in addition to a turntable on the other Essence unit.)

You can use an IR eye for the Essence in order to start it up via the BeoRemote One.

This means that there will be no use for the Beolink NL/ML Conberter."

While I don't pretend to be an expert, I believe his answer to be debatable. Also, he didn't know whether the IR-eye could be used with a remote for the Essence, which I had previously read on this forum. I like the idea of activating things with a remote.

I am thankful for any kind of input. I have the feeling that the collective wisdom of this forum outweighs that of the stores, at least based on my experience so far.

it depends what you want. what your describes is accurate as long as you don't want to play/pause th bs9000 from the beomusic app. in this case, connecting it to the line-in of an essence is sufficient. however, if you want to control the bs9000 via the app, you'll need the ml/nl and attach the bs9000 via ml to it.

don't know about IR.

anyone know why the "+" sign is shown in the bs9000 box in above screenshot? is the bs9000 connected to an ml/ml. i have an ml/nl, but don't have a "+" sign in the app, so i cannot "join" as i would with an a6 or a9. in some other thread, someone shared that this is a limitation of the ml/no and not feasible. now, i see the "+" sign, so someone must have found a way?

Thabks for the reply.

The whole point is that I own an ML/NL and I want as much integration and as much functionality as possible. I want as good a Multiroom-setup as possible, but getting a clear answer as regards functionality is difficult.

in this case, don't use the essence and ignore your dealer ;) the line-in cannot be controlled. with your ml/nl, you can control your bs9000 over ml and distribute to any nl device you want.

i don't have an answer what exactly you can control though (just play/pause or also switching disks etc).

Excellent. But I wonder why this can be such a sophisticated thing to understand for a dealer.

As a layman, I would think it should be straightforward but I feel a need to dive in and ensure they get it right.

Is there any restriction regarding version of the BS9000 (MkI, II, III) when it comes to joining multiroom via Beolink Converter NL/ML?

Only MkIII being compatible or it will work with any version?

No, the product version shouldn't be an issue when connecting to NL/ML, as all have masterlink.

There may be a difference in sources with the added N.MUSIC-functionality (a possibility on the MK2 and a feature on the MK3).

Maybe others can chip in on whether this is really of any benefit in a Multiroom-setup!

Hi,

i have the Beosound 9000 connected to BLC ML/NL. How can i switch the CD?

In Beomusic APP pressing '<' '>' is only switching one track, at the end it will go to the next CD or back.

On my M5 i can listen to the cd as well but same thing there, i cannot swicth cd's.

Does the BLGW has other possiblities?

Ralf

I asked quite extensively about this on the forum, as B&O dealers were unable give me a conclusive answer. Luckily, in another thread the answer from egges (with pictures) was that the BeoRemote app allows you to switch CD's. whereas the BeoMusic app does not. It's a software-issue, but it should be possible via the other app.

i'm really curious how to get it work like on the screenshot above. the bs9000 clearly shows a "+", which indicates that i can "join" the bs9000 to another playing source.

in my setup, devices connected to the ml/nl cannot join (they can only be joined by others).

does this has anything to do with the settings or the mode of the ml/nl?

thanks in advance!

above screenshot shows the ml/nl (bs9000) to be able to join other streams (see "+" symbol in screenshot.

this does not work for me. any idea about settings or ml/no mode to allow this?

How they presumably done it!

Take a NL/ML converter, give it the name BS9000 and the icon of the BS9000, (attach an IR eye - option), attach speakers to the NL/ML converter, connect a BS9000 to the NL/ML converter.

set the "Product controlled by Apps" to "BeolinkConverter NL;ML with speakers".

Ah... so, you think the speakers are connected to the ML/NL and not to the bs9000.

so, you can join speakers connected to the ml/nl, but you cannot join anything on ML?

Yes

to my knowledge, the JOIN (or the +) will only working in NL. Which is logical; ML cannot differentiate which NL sources are turned on!

You can start a NL product on ML depending on the setting of the NL/ML converter giving the right command with a remote.

If the ML audio system (eg the BS9000)  is the only ML device connected to the converter, then connecting the speakers to the converter and setting the audio system to option 0 is the best option as it does indeed give you the option of joining other netlink sources as well as control of the ML audio system from the app or using a remote.

The only downside is having to add the IR eye (and needing to find somewhere to locate it).

This also resolves the issue of a delay between the speakers connected to the audio system and the network link devices in the other rooms.

Martin.

thanks for your replies.

in my case, it's not a bs9000, but a bv7 that is connected to the ml/nl. so, i need to keep the BLs attached to the BV (otherwise video and audio go out of sync).

actually, everything works well with the bv7 and ml/no. the only unfortunate part is that no "+" shows up in beomusic. i can even join join other streams by selecting them in the app, but not the "join/+" way, which would be much more user friendly. also would be really nice to join via a "join" function of the beo4, but that's the same issue.
