Hi

Could I segment the home LAN with a Pakedge VLAN switch for 2 Masterlinks to each half of the house?

I have 2 master links:

BS9000 mk3 + BS5 + Beovision 7 + Link Speaker

BS3200 + Beocenter 2 DVD + Link Speaker

Please let me know your thoughts.

Thank you.

K

There's no reason that should not work. However, the package router and managed switch allows intra-VLAN communication so you may not accomplish what you were after.

Also, do any of these sources Access he internet?? If not, you wouldn't even need a switch.

I have a lot of old analogue equipment where I have managed to make 2 Masterlinks around the house each having its own Audiomaster and link speakers or slave audio systems.

I would like each Masterlink to have its own NL/ML so every Masterlink can get N.Music from different NL sources around the house.

Masterlink 1 - N.Music from BS5/BM5

This is the primary Masterlink for the NL/ML Converter. The BS5 pulls music from my NAS connected to home LAN switch.

Masterlink 2 - N.Music from BS4 SD Card.

This is where I would like to use the BS Moment sources for N.Music if I am able to add another NL/ML Converter to the home LAN?

Is it possible?

I think with a Pakedge switch you can do that.

You'd just want to make sure you DISABLE intralan communication.

You'll also need a Pakedge router.

The RE-2 should work just fine.

I have Pakedge at home (and am a Pakedge dealer). It's very nice kit.

Mjmedlow, you're a star! Thank you for letting me know.

Being a Pakedge dealer, you must also know about Control4? I am getting this brain fitted to control heating, lighting and 4k distribution.

Hopefully a Beolink Gateway too! 😝

Thanks!

To clarify, do I only disable this on the 2 ethernet ports for the NL/NL Converters?

Or do I need to do more?

You'd want to turn it off on every port that has a B& O product

You can do all of this with the BeoLink Gateway, except of course the 4K distribution.

For the distribution you would have to have an Atlona matrix. Might be worth looking at as it would allow you to use the bang and Olufsen remotes exclusively.

We are using Control4 because of its very simple GUI and also because of the different type of remotes available. In-wall touch screens which we will have in the landings, portable touch screens placed around the house (might do iPad with app) and some normal tactile remotes as well as apps for our phones.

I hate to say this but the Beolink app looks and feels rubbish. I would only buy the Beolink Gateway for myself to do more tweaks but also as an interface for the Control4 EA Controllers.

Control4 has been updated recently and works hand in hand with the Beolink Gateway and also Amazon Alexa? I will somehow be able to use all my current b&o remotes at some point. I'm not holding my breath.

With regards to the matrix, Atlona will not do.

I need 4K 16x16 which Wyrestorm can provide but its £30,000 lol. I will wait.

I have 4 sky boxes, 3 apple TVs and a blu ray player which need to go to 16 TVs.

Why not use two 8x8 matrices ..

it will be less than half the price;

you always have the option of just running IR control from the PUC of the TV

direct and having two IR controls on one box?

you'd honestly be money ahead by purchasing two boxes and adding more sky boxes and more

apply cvs it seems. .

30k is a HUGE investment. .not to mention what you'll pay for the control 4;

sounds like an awesome project though;

will you do B&O at all 16 locations? Control 4 should have an IR processor that can send

the controls to all of your set top boxes at the head end?

What you say is absolutely correct about 2 matrices and I did not think of that before. I was tunnel visioned in thinking everything should be in one matrix. I will research this and see if it can work.

Yes B&O in all of the rooms - music systems at a minimum.

All ground floor rooms will have a Beovision to go with the music systems.

It's a collection of music systems and a few Tvs over 15 years that have been running standalone or together in their respective rooms. Now all will run on 3 different Masterlinks over Cat6a.

I think you just saved me some money 👍🏻👍🏻

P.S. Home Wifi will be Pakedge NK-1 with 4 WAPs 🔥
