Hi,
I want to get the Beolab 8000's (MK3) but I need to use them with my current receiver, which is a Yamaha RX-V663. My receiver has pre-outs and also one single 12V trigger output.
I'm fairly certain that I've read on here that it's possible, but I can't seem to find that thread.
How do I go about connecting everything?
Is there any risk of humming or other unwanted noise from the Beolabs?
Thanks
EDIT: Thanks for the fast reply, and the answer was correct, only RCAs needed!
Hi db8000,
Welcome to Beoworld! Yes, you can easily use these speakers with the pre-out sockets of your receiver by setting the speakers into "Line" mode via the switch near the base, then there is no need to use the receiver trigger output.
You can connect stereo Beolab 8000 speakers to this receiver using these cables (if you choose the "standard" cable, then one set of cables is needed for each pair of speakers to be connected, if you choose the "high-end" cables, then you need one cable for each speaker):-
Standard cables: http://soundsheavenly.com/line-in-connection/6-av-processor-pre-amp-sonos-to-beolab-rca-line-in.html
High-end cables: http://soundsheavenly.com/line-in-connection/93--rca-rca-super-.html
Kind regards, Steve.

Agree with Steve, just use the RCA sockets set them to LINE mode, triggering is done by sensing sound levels. BL8000 are one of the easier sets to work with non-b&o set ups.
Really the only advantage to using powerlink DIN is reliable triggering. In my old set up I used exactly this: http://www.powmascables.com/contents/en-us/d56_Kabels-voor-aansluiting-aan-receiver.html But you'd also need a powerlink splitter and some lengths of powerlink DIN cables. In my opinion spending nearly 100€ on cabling just for that is not worth it.
Hello guys, and Steve.
Ii am new here and found this forum very helpful so far.
Like one other guy I have a Yamaha RX-V677 receiver and wanted to make a home cinema using this receiver and a set of 4 BeoLab 8000’s and also Beolab 2 subwoofer.
Can the B&O speakers and Subwoofer operate with the Yamaha receiver?
If yes then great, if no what are my options?
I guess if no, one option is to get the beosystem 4 which is around £3000 second hand. Would this be worth it?
If the Yamaha can work with the speakers and subwoofer, how would it compare if it was operating with the beosystem 4?
Thanks for any help in advance!

Hey, thanks.
After more research it’s all making more sense. My current receiver has no pre outs, which is no problem I can get another Yamaha or receiver with pre outs.
please confirm. I will then need:
1. This plug/cable for my Beolab 2 to work.. https://soundsheavenly.com/line-in-connection/singletwin-rca-to-beolab-2-7-10-2500-powered-trigger-kit
2. These cables for my Beolab 8000 x4 to work.. https://soundsheavenly.com/beogram-record-players/beogram-8000-8002-to-phono-pre-amp-cable
This is all I need along with a receiver with pre outs, right?
Would it be a totally different experience and much better to get the beosystem 4?
Thanks for your help!
Hi Diddlydo,
Thanks for your enquiry (I have also replied to your email a few moments ago). Although this Yamaha receiver doesn't have pre-out sockets, it can still be used with Beolab speakers, but additional converters are needed.
Please don't use the cables in the second link that you suggested, as these are for Beogram record players, they are not for use with speakers.
Changing to a receiver with pre-out sockets (as Hiort suggested) will require the same cables, but you won't need the converters mentioned below. Here are the items required to use your speakers with this receiver:-
For each pair of Beolab 8000 speakers, please connect two speakers to the red and black speaker terminals on the back of the receiver using this Attenuated Converter: https://soundsheavenly.com/line-in-connection/power-amplifier-to-beolab-line-in-attenuated-convertor-kit and then use this cable to connect the speakers to the output sockets of the Converter: https://soundsheavenly.com/line-in-connection/av-processor-pre-amp-sonos-to-beolab-rca-line-in
Please set both speakers to “Line” mode using the small switch near the input sockets.
The Beolab 2 subwoofer needs a special powered cable to generate the trigger signals that would normally be sent from a B&O television:-
https://soundsheavenly.com/line-in-connection/singletwin-rca-to-beolab-2-7-10-2500-powered-trigger-kit
The main difference in using the Beosystem 4 is that you can control everything with a B&O remote, whereas with the Yamaha receiver you would use the Yamaha remote. different cables would be used to connect the speakers to a Beosystem, but the operation is similar.
Please ask if you need any further help.
Greetings
I am up grading my trusty MX8000 to Non B&O TV.
Before I splash the cash on a AV amp just want to check I am not being bamboozled by the sales guy.
Considering a DenonAVRX3500. 7.1 setup with Lab 8000, Lab 6000, Lab 4000, Lab 7.4 and Lab 2 sub.
Is the Denon pre out compatible?
Do any of the speakers need a trigger ?
The bigger down side to this set up is needing 3 remotes ! will miss the Bed 4 remote.
Avro RJ
Hi Avro RJ,
I usually suggest looking at the Pioneer SC-LX59, Denon AVR-X3500, Yamaha RX-A830 or RX-V775 AV processors/receivers, all of which have audio pre-out sockets for easy connection of Beolab speakers for a Dolby surround sound setup. So to answer your question - yes the Denon does have pre-outs.
Beolab 2, 7-x and 10 speakers need a trigger signal to activate them when used with a non-B&O receiver (please see the "Beolab 2" link in my post above for details of the cable to use for the subwoofer and centre speaker.
Please can you check if your Beolab 4000s are mk.1 or mk.2 versions, as each version needs different cables? Mk.1 Beolab 4000s have a power button on the front and an RCA Line socket next to the Powerlink sockets.
I will then be pleased to confirm the best way to connect the speakers to this receiver.
Thanks Steve.
Finally found the box with the 4000 they look like Mk1 with the power button on the front. Bought new in 2003.

You can connect stereo Beolab speakers (eg. Beolabs 4000 mk.1, 6000, 8000, etc) to a receiver with pre-out sockets using these cables (one set of cables is needed for each pair of speakers to be connected):-
https://soundsheavenly.com/line-in-connection/av-processor-pre-amp-sonos-to-beolab-rca-line-in
If you have a Beolab 2 subwoofer, or a Beolab 7-x/Beolab 10 dedicated centre speakers, these each need a powered cable to generate the trigger signals that would normally be sent from a B&O television:-
Any questions, please ask.
Steve and fellow B&O fans
Thanks for the advice and supplying the powered trigger kit.
I have now completed the installation of my new 4k TV with 7.1 surround sound. setup as follows
Sony FX9005 55"
Denon AVR-X-4500H
Lab 8000 front
Lab 8000 Rear
Lab 4000 Rear high
Lab 7.4 Front center
Lab 2 Sub
Sound and picture are amazing a definite improvement on my 32" Beovision 7 Mk1
Must say I do miss the effortless operation of the Beo4 remote
Glad to hear that all is working well. Yes, I think Beolab speakers can often sound better with a modern AV receiver than with an older B&O TV. The Beo4 remote is excellent, that is one of the main benefits of keeping an "all B&O" system. However, if you can live with the Denon remote (or a third party universal remote) instead of the Beo4, then the AV receiver is a superb product.
