hi All,

I came home after a two weeks trip and for some reason -without having touched it- I no longer could control my Apply TV (3rd gen) with my Beo4 (puc connected, since about 2 years). I have automatic updates installed for both Apple TV and B&O: does anybody know whether these updates may have caused this?

(I've tried restarting both the BeoVision 11 and the Apple TV including disconnecting the mains, but I now can only control the Apple TV using the separate Apple TV remote; also tried downloading any new PUC software incl Apple gen 4, to no avail)

thanks, Rene

Had the same thing with my 4gen AppleTV, connected to my BV7 mk3.

But unfortunatedly I can not change the PUC myself, so still using the apple remote (or app on my iPhone)

Silly checks:

1 is the PUC still properly attached near the atv's eye ?

2 is the PUC cable bent or broken ?

In addition to elephant's suggestions, have you tried a different port to connect the PUC IR blaster cable behind your BV11, in addition do the other connected devices still work?  If other sources connected to the BV11 still work using their PUCs then it may be the cable. Have you also tried switching a known working PUC cable to the ATV and seeing if that works, if it does, then you know that it is a cable issue and not software.

I hate to say this, but maybe a factory reset of the BV11 might be in order to see if that doesn't sort it out.

Did you use the original small remote to restart the ATV3?

In other words - does the ATV react to that remote?

Hello Rene,

I had the same issue with an AppleTV connected my BeoSystem4.

My Workaround was to choose a "Standard PUC" (in my case "Philips BDP 9600") and tell the AppleTV to learn the remote commands.

Works perfect.

Best regards

Thanks to all responses so far. I finally managed to do basic checks by exchanging the Apple TV with the older one from the bedroom, and the result is:

connecting the Apple TV 2nd gen from the bedroom BV10 to the BV-11 on the very same PUC works flawlessly. The ATV 3rd gen can only be controlled using the Apple TV remote.

Interestingly, when connected to that PUC cable the light on the 3rd gen does respond to the Beo4, but nothing else happens. (Double double check: connecting the 3rd gen to a completely different PUC cable+connected to other connection: same result: no control via Beo4 only with apple remote).

so it does seem a ATV 3rd gen PUC software issue! Again, this started at most just a few weeks ago. I also downloaded the newest ATV PUC software (tourth gen) to no avail.

Interestingly: on the list there is "Apple TV 2nd and 3rd gen", whereas this used to be called "Apple TV" . When I choose to download "Apple TV 2nd and 3rd gen" it does not show up as new item, but seems to remain in my list as "Apple TV".

I then thought: maybe I should first remove existing PUC codes, but did not find how to do that. hhhm ,shall I really try/"risk" a full BV11 factory reset.....?

You must use the code for 2/3 gen, not for the 4th.

As for removing an 'excisting' code - that is easy....no harm done.

Have a look at page 14 and 48 of the User Guide of the BV11/Beo4

respectively page 24/25 for the BV11/BROne Guide.

You probably need to unpair your apple remote and the puc should then start working again.

See: https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT201254

I had something similar. Check the ATV setup menu. You will probably see that the atv is paired with the Apple remote. Then the atv will not respond to command from the PUc. Unpair this link and everything should work

THANK YOU !!!!!!!  this worked.

Even got to have ATV 3rd gen work on my BV-10 (using the single old PUC code) when I noticed that the ATV 2nd gen that I had decided to connect to my BV-11 instead worked without changes, but had the Apple Remote unpaired already.....

THANKS. So I take back my implicit accusations to B&O ! :-)

Hello!

So with 4K Playback the 5th Generation gets interesting! I asume it should also be controllable by PUC? Any Information right now?

Best Regards Elmar

I am 99,999% sure that Apple did not change the IR codes that the Apple TV "understands". The Apple Remote has the same buttons as the previous one...

Hello!

Can confirm that new Apple TV 4k PUC is working fine

Can someone tell if its possible to proof if 4k is displayed?

Best Regards Elmar
