I've had my BS9000 for about 5 years now - it's mounted horizontally on the wall. Recently I've noticed a fairly prominent ticking sound when it's playing back CD's - it seems to be worse on the middle slots.

It seems as though the mechanism is catching somewhere. Is this an easy fix or is it time for a service?

I've tried to search for something similar but didn't get any hits

appreciate any advice anyone has

Many thanks

Nik

Hello yes I have the same on disc 3 no idea what it is and it's only noticeable when listening very low.

I hadn't really looked into it I just assumed it was the disc

Have you adjusted the settings on the back?  The little arrows have to face upwards (adjust with a screwdriver).  If that's not it, repair shop!!

I'm assuming it they are already set correctly, it hasn't been off the wall since it was installed. mmmm sounds like a trip to the shop then for adjustment

Some disks are thicker than others and sometimes also uneven. This makes noises in the cd-player when the cd scratches lightly against for example the laser mechanism. I think it might be possible to adjust but the best thing to do is to have clean and original discs (not burned discs that are thicker).

I notice alot of difference in this sound on my bs9000 when playing different kinds of cds, however the sound is so low that it doesnt attract my attention very often. I can tune out the always hizzing fridge also :)

good point - these are burned CD's - I will try some originals as a test. Also I wonder if is has anything to do with the way it is mounted - ie horizontal on the wall. I am assuming that my wall is level !
