Hi,

I'd like to ask you about compatibility between old CRT B&O TV-sets and Triax C-HD 207 CX DVB-C receiver (B&O compatible version). http://www.av-connection.dk/?PGr=8224  and http://www.triax.dk/FindProduct/ProductDetails.aspx?product=9ff29459-3be6-44e6-a2ee-0a122f191f0e

So, my wife's mother ask me for do something with her 3 B&O old TV-sets ( BeoVision 1, BeoVision Avant, BeoVision Avant DVD) because analogue broadcasting now is really poor. I've read that the cable TV receiver I've write above is compatible with B&O TV-sets but I'm don't understand how it works. Is it communicate with old B&O TV-sets "through" TV only via SCART or maybe it do it by special built in B&O Set-top box controller and its "mini IR interface" (all our TV-sets have this feature)? Is it need any software upgrade (replace STB chip with new software) for these TV-sets?

Kind regards,
Andrey

These receiver are modified with a chip solution/a code converter.

They must communicate with the tv's through scart and are usually installed as V.Mem/V.Tape or DTV/SAT in the connection menu.

The solution works well - if/when you have gotten used to pushing the 'right' button.

Of course the antenna cable must be connected to the receiver - the tuner in the tv's is unused.

A lot of owners of these old sets in Denmark use this solution.

I once did myself (the DVB-T version) on my old, long gone Avant

By the way - welcome to Beoworld.

P.S. Maybe I should have asked, where you are located.

Hello!

Thank you for your answer and thank you for your help!

I live in Moscow (Russland)

So, I've understood you that it's very easy to communicate old CRT Beovisions directly with Triax C-HD 207 CX (B&O version). Is it right that I can hide these receivers because there is no needs for any IR communication between receiver and IR remote?

If you know please tell me some words about communication via SCART, I have no information about it.

Andrey

Welcome to Beoworld Andrey.

SCART is an analogue connection that carries sound and image between e.g a cableTV box  and the TV. Nowadays replaced by the digital HDMI cable.

Hi, thank you for your answer! But I've asked about something like communication protocol because there is no information how old Beovisions runs Triax C-HD 207 (B&O versions) via SCART.

It was just an additional question)

Check your conection meny in your Beovision if you can control your digitalbox.

Some stb/puc-codes works fine as long its the same brand.

you also need a IR-cable from your beovision to your digital box (use double side clear tape)

After that you can control your beovision with your beo4 remote.

Works very well with my 2 beovision 3-32, my digital boxes has the (new) T2 and scary/hdmi som

they can be used when a change my old tvs to newer with hdmi.

@Andrey

I can't tell whether this particular box will work in Moskau - maybe the protocol of the digital signal is different there ???

If not/if it can be used - just connect it via scart (as described in my post), The B&O-tv's will pass on the Beo-command via scart to the receiver.

This is (after being modified) able to understand the commands from a B&O remote.

Don't worry - that part will work!

As parasound points out you might (or possibly might not!) be lucky that the tv's already have some codes stored internally.

These can be used (when a ir cable is used as well as the scart) to control some devices --- this is called PUC/STB control.

You can check this when configuring a scart connection - here the possible entries show up.

The user guide also has a descibtion of how to.

Usually the modified boxes are double the price of the original device - there are not many brand with this mod.

Hi,

Thank you for your detailed answer!

Your information was very very helpful for me!

For addition please write all models (brands) of DVB-C and DVB-T2 receivers with B&O mod you know, it is important.

DVB-T2 receiver will probably may need me if one of TV-sets will go to our country side home this spring.
