Hi all,
This is my first post in the forum.
I recently bought a pair of Beovox M70. They have the same dimensions and characteristics of a normal M70. But they have a couple of differences too. Firstly they don't have the "holes" needed to hook the cloth to the speaker. The only way to do it is to use some kind of glue or adhesive tape. Secondly the framework you see in the second photo is different from the others I have seen online. Mine has three "holes" (two circular and one rectangular) whereas it should have four "holes" as you can clearly see in this discussion: http://archivedforum2.beoworld.org/forums/t/13073.aspx?PageIndex=2
So my question is: Is it possible for a Beovox m70 to have these kind of differences? Could it be an early model? If no, is it an original M70 or maybe some kind of strange rework (which would be very strange indeed)?
My main sources are:

And the 1976-1977 catalogue
Serial numbers? This era of B&O always seems very hand made in both good and bad ways!

I really don't know behind the speakers there is nothing written only "Beovox M70 Bang Olufsen World patent pending"
It's the same model as this one : http://www.tmraudio.com/product/undefined-715
Maybe it's an early model? Also do you reccomend using some kind of glue or adhesive tape?
My P45s are same build years as the M70s, and the P45 frets are glued to the aluminium frame, so you may have an early model.
So the easiest way will be gluing 4 corners and the middle to the alu frame
How are your drivers, they are prone to have loose magnets in the woofers
Collecting Vintage B&O is not a hobby, its a lifestyle.
Hi Soren,
I highly appreciated your discussion on the M70 !
The Woofers seems ok. I mean they sound good. But I don't know about the phase link. It doesn't seem to work at all. At least on one speaker.
The problem is that I don't have any repairing skill and I'm afraid I would break everything.
Try to press gently with 3 fingers on the middle of the cones, they should move freely inward and then return when removing your fingers. I they dont move the magnets are probably loose. A repair is possible but difficult, I tried once but destroyed the voice coil.
The woofer moves freely. The phase-link seems a bit rigid because when I press it goes down and doesn't come back. You have to wait a bit for it to swell again.
Do you have any material on the phase-link? Because by reading old reviews it seems like a "marketig" thing rather than a real improvement.
By the way I'm going to buy some kind of glue to fix the speakers. Do you suggest a particular type ?
You probably have a loose magnet, do not use the speaker anymore, you may destroy the voice coil. I use a good epoxy glue for the magnets, but if the cone isn't moving freely, the drivers must be repaired (disassemble, clean, assemble, adjust and reglue)
A little about phase link here
It's only one cone that doesn't move. The other move ok. So only one speakers has problems the other is in good conditions. If I continue to use it will I break the whole speaker or only the phase-link driver? Because for sure I can't fix that I don't even know where to start .
To attach the fret to the speaker do you recommend a type of glue in particular?
Only the phase link wil be destroyed, I use this for the frets, just a small drop at six points, weigh down on the glue points and let dry
Disconnect the bad driver if you want to use the speaker
Rich:Where are you in the world? I have spare phase links for the M70.
You are the best Rich
Hi Rich,
I'm glad to hear that.
By the way I'm from Italy
