Hi all, newbie here that needs a bit of help.
I've recently re-discovered my father's BeoSystem 3300 after it being in storage in his loft for many years.
The Beogram is, unfortunately, completely scuppered (water and physical damage) but the rest is in superb physical condition and the Beomaster is working flawlessly.
Last week I purchased a Thakker belt kit for the beocord, as I could hear the motor running but got no response to pressing any of the buttons except it would stop automatically.
Upon disassembly I found the main drive belt very stretched and it had completely slipped off the drive pulley.
So I have re fitted all of the belts, and today I decided to test it now that I had a blank cassette. The Fast forward and rewind are working fine but if I try to play or record the unit just goes to 'stop' after about a second or so. The heads are moving into and out of the tape as they should.
Is there some clutch/belt tension adjustment somewhere that I am missing?
Any help would be appreciated as I'd really like to keep these units working as a tribute to my dad.

Are you sure, the belts are correct and fitted correctly?Did the seller include mounting instructions and did you ask for advice and support?There are SO many wrong belts on the market.Most are mere standard belts, pretty much useless in any B&O, and I wonder how those sellers can stay in business.

Well, as I said, I ordered them from Thakker in Germany - whom I understood to have have a good reputation.
I didn't receive any mounting instructions, though - so I mounted them the same as the worn ones (only the larger flat belt was stretched - all the others were intact and still seemingly fine really).

Does both tape reels rotate when play is activated - (even if just for a brief moment)?
There is no movement at all when play is pressed - although both rotate fine when fast forward or rewind are pressed.
Just to add - I have just tried it without a tape at all, and when I press play the left hand wheel rotates fine, and seemingly at the correct speed.
Also, I have noticed that when I press play with the tape inserted it looks like the whole tape is being pushed very firmly against the top of the slot - so I'm wondering if the heads are going tight up against the tape and stopping it from moving.

If i read that correctly,the LEFT wheel rotates???
the right one should rotate, together with the capstan in play modus, if the left one rotates (and i guess you mean the pickup wheels) chances are the belt is not mounted correctly, which could also explain the fact that the mechanism turns off after about a second because it thinks it has reached the end of the tape...

Sorry, you're correct it is the right one that rotates, NOT the left - not sure why I wrote that... I know left from right normally... lol!!
Thanks for the link, I mounted the belts exactly how Iit shows in the last photo. I assume this was correct - as his is working.
Is it possible to set how far in the heads push to the tape? I still think this could maybe be the reason, it does look overly harshly 'gripped' if you see what I mean?
If your deck has two leaf springs, one each side of the tapehead, make sure they slide in abovethe tape cassette. If they hit on the edge of the cassette, play cannot be engaged correctly.

I must have squeezed them slightly when I re-fitted the mechanism....
Now to fire up the (sadly non B&O) turntable and check the record/playback capability

Well... good news to report, all working perfectly now, recorded for 45 straight without a hitch, and playback sounds absolutely fantastic.
