Hi All

I was focusing on installing Control4 home automation for the past year (nothing has been bought) and now I have been swayed to the Beolink Gateway to take on this role after seeing the new look on the Beolink app and also the overlay GUI on the newer TVs.

There are a number of things I would like the home automation to control which include external cameras, front gates, heating, lighting and Audio/Video distribution.

I have some grey areas I would like to clear out if anyone can please help answer some questions:

1. What IP based cameras and NVR are best suited for the BLGW? I need the NVR to record footage and would like 8 high spec cameras 5MP minimum.

2. What external keypad/camera door station works best for front gates? This needs a wide angle camera and also a keypad to enter a code for the gate to open. The keypad is a backup and also to be let in from the outside.

Would VIDEX work with the BLGW?

We only need to install a modular camera to our Videx system then.

3. I will be installing RAKO lighting. Will this work best? Or is there a better alternative?

4. What 4K Matrix to use? I will in the end have 16 TVs and have been advised to use 2x 8x8 Matrices. What brand is best suited for this? Atlona was advised all along but I hear this is not functioning properly on the Beolink app?

5. Downstairs will be all B&O. Upstairs will have B&O music systems but the TVs will be Sony, Samsung, LG etc. Can I control the upstairs TVs with Beo remotes and the Beolink app? Please help as I am confused how upstairs will be controlled.

Will I need the Control4 home automation brain here?

6. I was originally going to use Control4 home automation but have been advised the Beolink Gateway has improved greatly and now does the same job? Is this correct? Can it do everything Control4 can?

7. Is there any underfloor heating that works with the BLGW? Would this just be through a thermostat like Nest?

8. Is there a video intercom capability through the B&O products like I could have done using the Control4 app on my iDevices or their dedicated tablets and wall touch screens? i.e. Talk to someone upstairs? Or ring all devices to come down for dinner? The devices I suppose could only be the mobile phones for the BLGW?

9. How can I add more than one NL/ML converter to my home LAN when I have three different Masterlinks? Is it do with VLAN on the switches or can this be simpler?

Thank you in advance. All of your help is much appreciated.

9. You will need one converter for each ML-master, that you want to add to your NL-setup.

Masterlink 1 - Audiomaster BS9000

Masterlink 2 - Audiomaster BS3200

Could I map "Deezer" to the 9000 CD and "HOMEMEDIA" to the 3200 CD on 1 NL network using 2 NL/ML converters?

I suppose that you only want one (!) NL-network for all your gear.

What you map and where, is done in the settings of the converter respectively for the adding of the 9000 and the 3200.

There is a later version (1.4) - but I can't find a link for that....maybe someone else.

(If you don't already have it, I can send it to you).

Yes 1 NL network and 2 Masterlinks for now with 2 NL/ML converters.

I have a third Masterlink which I could probably integrate later once I figure out running 2 converters 👍🏻👍🏻.

Are you saying 2 or more NL/ML converters will work? Each connected to a different Masterlink and then both converters connected to the same home LAN?

UPDATE

Any IP camera with MJPEG video compression will work.

H.264 and MJPEG4 will not work.

There are a lot to choose from.

I'm not sure the very recent higher resolution cameras would work? The 4 megapixel ones?

Hikvision do a 4 megapixel bullet camera with MJPEG video compression.

UPDATE

I will be using RAKO modules for the primary lighting.

I will also be using Phillips Hue lamps and LED strips around the house in some rooms.

UPDATE

I will not be using another Home Automation system if I can help it.

The TVs upstairs can hold off on using the matrix until they are all B&O.

If I really need some TVs connecting upstairs, I will install a small Crestron module in each room temporarily.

I am opting for Crestron and not Control4 solely because of how the handheld remotes look and feel. This is the only way I will be able to control the non B&O TVs upstairs (through another home automation system).

UPDATE

Video Intercom Capability

Crestron's remote - TSR-302

This remote has a lot of capability.

I know it's moving away from the beoremotes but having Crestron for a few things temporarily doesn't bother me until the Beolink Gateway sorts itself out.
