Dear all

I have the following issue:

Beosystem 4 connected to a Projector (HDMI) and an AppleTV 4th Gen (HDMI+LAN). In addition there's also a NAS (MyBookLiveDuo (LAN)) + Mediaplayer (TVIX (LAN+HDMI)) connected to Beosystem4.

When I want to listen to spotify music streamed via my Ipad using Airplay to the AppleTV connected with the Beosystem4 , I always have to first turn on the Projector in order for the Speakers (connected to Beosystem4) to turn on... otherwise I hear no sound...

Is there any smart way around this? I dont want to turn on the projector everytime I just want to listen to music using Airplay.

My B&O dealer said I could buy the BeoSound Moment and use my favorite stream service Spotify there to listen to my music. He said connecting the Beosound Moment to the LAN Network would suffice to connect the Beosound Moment to the Beosystem4 (also in the LAN Network), but I wonder why the signal from the Projector would in this setting not be required as compared to the AppleTV? Seems also like an expensive work around since I would prefer using my Ipad.

Any help would be highly appreciated. (I also have an old AppleTV Gen3 with an optical out, but not sure if that would help).

Cheers, Tom

How is the Apple TV registered?

If as V.MEM (just to give an example) you could use AV + V.MEM on a Beo 4 remote if I remember correctly.

I am sure someone will clarify... or correct me Smile

What remote are you using?

Ralf

Living Room: Beosystem 4, Beolab 7-2 (Center), Beolab 9 (Fronts), Beolab 8000 (Rears), no Subwoofer. Screen: Sony KD-85XH9096

Home Cinema: Beosystem 4, Beolab 7-4 (Center), Beolab 1 (Fronts), Beolab 4000 (Rears). Projector: Sony VPL-HW55

Hi Ralf

Thanks for your answer. I do have the Beo 4 remote and the AppleTV is indeed registered as V.MEM. Where do I find AV on the remote? My Beo4 has the following buttons: TV, LIGHT, RADIO,DTV, DVD, CD, V.MEM, TEXT, and A.MEM.

When I press V.MEM, I see my BeoLabs 18 lighten up green but then no sound at all (unless I would turn on the projector).

However, I found a work around, putting my old HDMI Switch (Digitus) between the Beosystem 4 and Projector. :)

Still I would be curious about your solution!

Best, Tom

There is no A/V function on the BSys4 like with previous systems/tv's.

Thanks for clarifying MM.

Is my dealer correct with the BS Moment solution? (being able to connect to BSyst4 just via LAN Network/DLNA)? Touching the BS MOment would fire up the BSyst4 and play the sound? As I may consider this for the future...

Cheers, Tom

Sure he is right about what happens, if you connect a BS Moment.

As for AirPlaying he is not right (if he really said so).

The Moment works with Deezer for 'sky content' and with a DLNA server for 'local content'.

In addition it has TuneIn for netradio stations.

Certainly a good way to go!

(There is lots of information on how the Moment works (or not) on the forum - the BS Moment has matured massivly with the latest updates).

However, if your preference is to stream via AirPlay, that is not the way to go.

I understood, that you also have an ATV3.

Why not try to connect that via the digital-in on the BSys4 (requires a converter from optical to coax spdif) - means without the HDMI connected.

If it already is configured, it might work 'out of the box'.

Note: I am not that familiar with using a BSys4 standalone - it might cause the same trouble as via HDMI (?).

I'd give it a try, anyway, before considering other solutions.

Alternatively - you could use a Chromecast Audio for Spotify - set up the same way as above.

Thanks a lot for the detailed explanations MM... will consider the ATV3 solution with converter, but i am already happy that the HDMI switch allows me to circumvent the HDMI Projector issue with the BSys4/ATV4. The BS Moment sounds tempting too thoughSmile. Will dig a bit deeper on the forum. And no, he did not say that I would use Airplay on the Moment, but that I would be able to use my Spotify on this device (and deezer) without the need of airplay. I was just wondering why the BSys4 needs a HDMI signal for ATV4 and also the built-in digital radio tuner but not for the BS Moment...?

Tom
