Hi Beoworld
I have a BV10 46 and was recently told by my dealer that I could add a third HD source to my TV with a HDMI to RCA cable which I went ahead and bought online. Unfortunately I'm not getting a picture or sound when I switch on my source. It's unclear from the diagram on the rear panel on my TV whether the RCA sockets are AV3 or AV4 (or neither).
Could someone direct me? The cable I have bought is HDMI to RCA. It has red, green, blue, yellow and white connectors which I have colour coordinated with the sockets on the TV. Under menu > connections I have selected Yes for YPbPr.
Thanks in advance.
HDMI is a digital signal, whereas the 'component' signal to which you are trying to convert is analogue. Hence the adaptor that you purchase will have to include a Digital to Analogue converter, rather than just a straightforward lead. These are available from Amazon and the like.
In picture-quality terms, you may be better off using an hdmi switcher or matrix.
I tried to respond to this earlier but think the post must be in moderation! Basically, hdmi is digital and component (the input you are trying to use) is analogue, hence you need an adaptor that does the digital to analogue conversion rather than a simple cable adaptor.
It may be easier (and better quality) to use an hdmi switching box or matrix.
Hi Guy,
Thanks for your response. Is this a suitable example of what I need to buy?

My dealer mentioned it would still be a HD picture, but surely this is incorrect if the signal is being converted from digital to analogue?
No, that one converts in the other direction (component to hdmi). You want HDMI to component, like this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Tendak-Component-Converter-Adapter-Coaxial-x/dp/B01EL6DNES/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1485780317&sr=8-6&keywords=hdmi+to+component
To be honest the quality will probably depend upon the performance of the converter - 'component' certainly has the capability to produce near-HD signals.
You may also experience problems with copyrighted content. HDMI signals (eg from Netflix) can include hdcp (high-bandwidth digital content protection), which an HD-ready TV will readily decode. I am not sure if the adaptor I have linked to also provides that hdcp decode facility as part of its processing - I doubt it.
To be honest in your shoes I would look at an hdmi switch box - life will be much simpler!
I am not an expert, but some of these (hdmi matrices) can be controlled by the B&O TV itself using the inbuilt PUC facility - hopefully others can add advice if you want to go this route.
