hi everyone,

i just set up my Beolab 9 with Denon X4300 amp.  i know it's a surround sound amp, but i currently only have a set of Beolab 9 on it.  when i tested it with some DVD's i noticed that the sound barely had any bass.  is this because i'm using a non-B&O amp?  when i followed the screen setup, the beolab 9 speakers are set up as front left and front right.  is this the correct way of doing this?

thanks a lot for all your input in advance.

Hi,

Yes, this is the correct way to connect the speakers.  Next, you need to ensure that the receiver sends the correct sound to the speakers, so please go into the receiver menu, select the "Sound" or "Speakers" section and then please make the following setting changes:-

Subwoofer: set this to "No" or "Not present"

Front Speakers: Set these to "Large" or "Full range"

You should now get all the bass sent to the front speakers, to give you the correct full range sound.

Kind regards, Steve.

Thanks a lot, Steve!

I followed your instructions and set it to "Large"

and chose "no subwoofer", but the bass still sounds pretty weak.

are Beolab 9 like this?  Perhaps I should get an extra subwoofer?

Hi,

Beolab 9 speakers have superb, deep bass when set up correctly.  Please check the speaker position switch on the rear of each speaker to ensure that this is in the correct position for where the speakers are within the room (ie. in a corner, by a wall or in open space) as this affects the bass level.

If you just have the two speakers, then setting the receiver output to stereo can help improve the sound, as you won't be sending sound out to other speaker channels that aren't connected.

Kind regards, Steve.
