I have a mk2 and never saw a mk1 in action. A friend of mine told me that his mk1 has some difficulties to deal with some dark scenes in The Crown. I never experiment this with my mk2.
This sunday I watched Nemo with my daughter on the mk2.
I didn't expect such a wonderfull picture (near a 3d picture) with such an old movie. I know that it is easier to have a good picture with this kind of movie but was surprised by the results.
