No stupid question!

You can use the 'PC' port of a BeoLink Active to have a source/your pc connected.

Your BeoLink Passive (with the speakers) will act as an amp for the Active - connected via a PowerLink cable.

The ir-eye must be connected to the Active.

Look in this thread for a picture of how to make the cable used with the 'PC' port....

....or order one from Steve at Sounds Heavenly.

Hi MrBil,

There is an even simpler way to use just the Beolink Passive as a stand-alone audio amplifier with your music source and passive speakers, you don't need to buy a Beolink Active to driver it.  All you need is this trigger cable to activate the Passive without a B&O system connected:-

http://soundsheavenly.com/input/75--trigger-beolink-trs-.html

This connects to the headphone socket of your music source (eg. computer, iPod, etc) to give you volume control from the source device.

Kind regards, Steve.

Hi all,

i just tested a cable from almando:

https://almando.com/wholesale/index.php/din-cinch-20cm.html

When i connect this to a beolink passive (old model) it turns on and off and on and off etc.

Any idea what's wrong? not even possible? Think it does the same as steve's cable at sounds heavenly?

Hi,

Welcome to Beoworld!  I can't vouch for the Almando cable, but I can confirm that this is not the same as the cables that I supply from Sounds Heavenly.  My cables provide a steady trigger voltage to keep the Passive amplifier on when the trigger cable is activated, the Almando cable may not do this.

Kind regards, Steve.
