I had exactly this problem when I had a BV3 and 2 STBs. Luckily I managed to find one of these:
Stones:Nice. What sources do the DTV, V.AUX and V.MEM open?
The same sources that they would control on a normal Beo4.
The advantage is simply that the TV button (which people often do not use) is replaced by V.AUX which is normally accessed via list.
On my BV3 setup, the DTV and V.AUX operated two STBs (one for UK Freesat TV, the other for Danish TV) and V.MEM controlled my V8000 video player.
With this Beo4 you still need the V-AUX instruction beneath the LIST button.
As you already mentioned you have the 2 instructions STB(DTV) and STB(V-AUX) to control both settopboxes.
Depending on the softwareversion STB(DTV) can also be STB(SAT).
A.Mem is the same as ATAPE and V.MEM is V.TAPE.
Another thought: If you have a BeoLink 1000 (the older remote without the screen) then you can get V.AUX by pressing SHIFT then TV.
Personally I would just accept using the LIST button. With your newer Beo4 you should be able to move V.AUX within the stored list, so that it appears first when pressing LIST.
