Hi all..
I just got a hold of a what appeared to be a completely dead Beo6.
After having changed the battery to a new known charged and working one, nothing happened. Normally they come to life with a new battery, but not this one.
Then I connected it to my configuration tool 6.00, and it actually found it and created a new configuration, but the remote still did not turn on the screen or anything.
So I figured it had a dead display, since I had read some threads here, with people having their remote fixed by a new screen.
Just as a last resort, I tried to just upload a simple configuration, and that started by writing "BeoLo" firmware, I have never seen that before, after that it wrote the normal Firmware, and after that WiFi firmware.
The WiFi stood for 2 minutes with 8 bytes to write. I almost thought it had died on me, but then it completed.
Still nothing, totally dead screen, but it was still visible by the config tool. I knew 6.00 does not have the latest FW, so started 6.84 and created a new configuration, and did the same. BeoLo/Firmware and WiFi did an update, and behold, the screen came on with "no valid configuration",
It then uploaded the configuration, and weee, all was well. Almost...
After looking at the info, the FW was 3.40a, but WiFi was 0.0.0
Enabled WiFi and looked for the network, "Low Battery" came on in the WiFi screen, and only there.
The battery had drained a lot by all the updates, and I charged the remote for an hour and tried again.
It then only wrote WiFi and then configuration, and a quick look in the WiFi/Beo6 info, reveled 4.3.4 as WiFi FW, and the remote is totally back to life.
So, don't just assume it is dead until having tried everything, off course, if it cannot be seen by the config tool, it might be hard to get back to life.

claudiu : If you change to a new battery and still not working You need to take it to dealer to recharge the battery , and you can only be done with : 'Service Charger for Beo6'. part no. 8089005
They are standard batteries, and can be charged without the tool. If the battery pack works in other Beo5/6 remotes, then it is worth a try to just run updates via the config tools before going to B&O and pay a lot of money.
I have seen this exact situation on several Beo6's.
My observation is like yours, if you can upload a configuration, then it is almost certainly not a fault with the hardware.
Regards Keith....
I've been struggling with a Beo6 that sounds like it has the same problem yours had. I even went so far as to have the screen replaced, but within a few days it looks dead again. I feel confident it is not dead because when I connect it to a laptop the laptop sees it as an Unknown Device.
I'm using config tool version 6.84, I see from your post you were using an earlier version, 6.00. Do you have a copy of the setup file for that version that you could share with me? Maybe that version will work better.
Thanks,
Hi Weebyx,
I can confirm this worked for me. I bought two non working Beo 6s off ebay. I actually just wanted the charging cradles as I have 2 Beo 5s but only 1 charger.
I thought I'd give the instructions above a go on the dead Beo 6s. I installed configuration tool 6.00, and it updated each one. Then on another PC with configuration tool 6.84 I connected the remotes and they both updated (both took a while to write the WiFi update and I nearly gave up on the first try) each then sprang into life. So I have decided to keep the Beo 6s and sell my Beo 5s as I can no longer program them due to the 64bit issue with my windows 10 PC.
Thanks for the instructions.
Stoobie.
Is there anyone having the configuration file that is willing to share?
Elvis
Hi Elvis,
If you can send me a PM to my email I can set up download links for whichever version of the Configuration Tool you are in need of.
Cheers
