Hello guys you have a really great community here.
Please correct me if i posted to the wrong forum but i didnt know where else to post.
Im looking for some help. A guy in my town is selling its Beomaster 5500 without remote plus a pair of black cx 100 in both great condition. What do you guys think is this package worth? I read a lot and tried to check on ebay but couldnt find a good answer. He said it was barely used.

Thanks Peter. Im located in Europe. Well as far as using i would like to stream music to the beomaster via appletv as I don't use vinyl cd or cassettes. The most important thing would be just switching the channel I.e. From cd to aux so I can use my streaming device. Any idea about the pricing?
I use a 5500 and CX100s under my computer and it has plenty of inputs so excellent for doing this - a Beolink 1000 is fine for almost all operations.
About £100-150 for the Beomaster - has to work though - and about the same for CX100s if in good condition and not needing refoaming.

Thanks for you quoting. As I'm new to this kind of stuff and really like the design of the old bo speakers and beomaster 5500 in looking for some good. I manly listen to some electronic (house) music as well as pop and some rock. Would you suggest the cx 100 or some other? There is also a pair of rl45.2 for 130€ in my area

Remember you still need a remote control. Othervise the 5500 is useless. Beolink 1000 will do fine as mentioned above.
The RL series will match the 5500 fine.
Office: Beomaster 3000-2 with Beovox P45 (all in white)
Living room: Beomaster 7000 and Beogram 7000 with Beovox RL 7000 (all in white)
Kitchen: Beocenter 2300 with Beovox 4500 (not available in white :-(
You mention that you will use your Apple TV as source. As far as I remember the Apple TV does not have an analogue output. Either you should use a DAC to convert the signal or buy an Apple airport express or Chromecast audio to stream to the 5500.

As others have stated, a remote should be your top priority here if you are truly interested. With the Beomaster 5500, all you can do is power it on, mute it, and change the channels that may or may not be preset in it's memory currently.
I have both the Beolink 1000, and the Master Control Panel 5500. The Master Control Panel is much easier to use for this model, and also allows more options. The loudness button for example. The Beolink 1000 can not control the Loudness control on the Beomaster 5500 (Though it can control Loudness on the Beomaster 6500 and up). So if loudness control is important to you, the MCP should be your choice. If Loudness control is not important, then the Beolink 1000 is typically cheaper and more reliable.
The Beomaster 5500 only has 1 set of line level RCA inputs. It may look like there are more, but one is for Phono inputs, another is line level output for recording. Then the RCA pre outs, that if used can be run to an external power amp.
If you want to hook up other non B & O equipment, I use these cables from cables online. Though I also think that there are more options in your area of the world.
As for prices, I see these things jump all over the board. Some are expensive, some are cheap. Some are beat up heavily, others are pretty clean. As Peter said a few posts back, audition it if you can. Listen for flaws. There is a fan in these receivers, and if you listen closely, you can tell when it's running. As long as it doesn't go into protection mode, and the sound is up to your standards, it is a good place to start your B&O journey.
One thing I currently have hooked up to my Beomaster 5500 is a Bluetooth audio adapter. It honestly works pretty well, and may be a better option over using the Apple TV. Just a thought, and may even be less expensive, since with the Apple TV, you'll need to purchase a Toslink to RCA DAC (Digital Analog Converter)

The Beolink will do volume just fine, it just can not toggle the "Loudness" on or off. For some people, that isn't an issue. Loudness is kind of like an EQ curve, where it boosts the bass and treble at lower volume and as you turn the volume louder, the bass and treble return closer to your settings on your receiver. Try reading the wikipedia page on "Loudness curve". Admittedly, this is getting pretty complex, and I know this will annoy traditional audiophopiles around here, but I like my Loudness curve :)
As for the Red Line 60.2 speakers. I've heard Peter's Red Line 140's and they are very nice. I think they could be a pretty good fit with either the Beomaster 5500 or the 7000.
Both Beomasters have their pros and cons. The 7000 might be a good one for you since you plan on using the Beolink 1000. I think the 1000 will be a better fit with the 7000. Also, as pointed out, if you ever desire to try out a turntable, you'll need one that has a Phono Pre amp built in. I have not seen many of the Beograms around with a built in Phono Pre amp, but from your previous posts, this might be a non issue since you'd like to stream music.
