Is part sourcing (transistor & capacitor) more difficult with the Beomaster 1000 than similar vintage B&O receivers? If so, which electronic sources would be best for good replacement transistors and capacitors?
I could really use some suggestions. Thanks!!

I would go for Martin first, he may have some usable Germanium transistors, and of course he will provide the caps and lamps, if he cant supply the transistors search Ebay for NOS. I presume you are looking for parts for your white key BM 1000
Collecting Vintage B&O is not a hobby, its a lifestyle.
Yes the white key BM1000. It worked "well enough" when here, although the FM reception was extremely weak, so I sent it off for repair. The first assessment said the amplifier "might" be repairable, but not the tuner.
I wasn't happy with that assessment, so I pressed to see IF the tuner might also be repaired.
I am told that parts for the BM1000 are extremely difficult to obtain, possibly impossible, so I decided to ask around to see if there is anything out there other than the Chinese "close matches" that have been ordered for replacements.
If I can find better replacement transistors and capacitors I am willing to pay for the Chinese caps (the shop can keep them) and order the needed parts from a better source.
Soren, the ONLY good news so far with this repair is the shipping was inexpensive. Remember the Beolab/Beomaster shipping costs from Texas? Well this shipping was (are ya ready?) CN$58.80, which includes taxes. (US$45.02)
I also sent in my newest BM1600. More bad news. Everything mechanical worked flawlessly here, but virtually all the clutches were damaged in shipment. The shop has had to spend a lot of time getting the controls to move properly & who knows what will happen on the way back?
Anyway, I digress, if anyone has a source for these (apparently) unusual transistors and capacitors in the BM1000, I sure would like to avoid using Chinese caps, if I can help it.
Thanks!

1. Oh, haven't we heard that sentence before...
2. Let me know what you need. I have a little of this and a little of that in the dungeons.

Which shipper Jeff ?
Søren Mexico:Which shipper Jeff ?
Canada Post/USPS.
Hi Soren,
I should hasten to mention that the quoted price was for the BM1000 alone, not both amps. Still, all considered cheap and it didn't come with the double brokerage fee that UPS charges.

Thats what I dont understand here, I ship with USPS and it end up with UPS and not Canada post, when I ship from McAllen I prefer UPS they have a very nice shop there and good service packing and giving shipping advise, USPS and Fedex in McAllen dont give a shite, they just try to get the highest price on everything
Now send your needs about your BM 1000 to Martin
Hi, thank you for all this B&O information. I am considering a restoration of my Beomaster 1000-2302-2.
it works, but after 50 years.. and i want to start using it again as a 2nd amp (tape, CD and vinyl)
Is there a partslist for recap and general maintenance parts exchange?
thanks!
Jan
Welcome to the forum, Martin (Dillen on this forum) can provide a capacitor kit with instructions, and if needed other spare parts like lamps, trimmers and maybe transistors contact him for your needs
JanPaw:Is there a partslist for recap and general maintenance parts exchange?
Jan,
Soren is quite right, Martin has amazing kits. Martin is a B&O maven and a real gentleman. If you contact him, I am sure you will see what I mean.
The latest I have heard is the caps for my Beomaster 1000 arrived Friday. I do not know if Benny decided to source parts from Martin or not, as he appeared to be quite comfortable with the NOS Japanese caps he ordered from China. I hoped he would buy the needed parts from Martin, being such a dependable source, but I decoded NOT to push this point. Not a good idea to tell a technician how to do their job.
So we'll see. I should hear something about the BM 1000 next week.
Excellent news however, on my BM 1600, it is totally rebuilt. Interesting issue with the 3 screws on the front panel affecting the sliders, but that is something I can address when it arrives here.
I have to install the glass panel anyway, as I left it out fearing breakage in shipment. Also I need to install Martin's BEAUTIFUL belts which I decided to install after the BM 1600 was completed.
Thank you Soren & Jeff,
I've send Dillen a mail.
Hi Jan,
Martin is truly a treasure, let us know how things work out, OK?
