hi, i have an avant 55 connected via cat6 cables to a nas. When playing video via the homemedia, it occassionally gave a codec not supported error message halfway through the movie. For the same file, it plays well on certain days but not other

is there a way to update the codec on my avant?

Not that I'm aware of

Many TVs even Sony etc play different codecs when a drive is put in the USB drive versus the nas on a network

Seen this with different WMA /MP3 quality levels found in the same folder.

Recently reformatted my entire music collection from WMA to FLAC and recovered a number of albums from that process.

Another thing the Avant is susceptible to is some of the in depth tagging stored in file. I had an album which in both WMA and FLAC always split into two. Could never find the reason in WMP or dppoweramp etc...

reripping solved the problem but sometime later, examining the files in Explorer, the dppamp association identified a couple of minor tags that correlated to the split.

therefore, to me, it is the Avant "over reading" the tags to an extent most of us do not need
