I'm thinking out loud here. Maybe the answer will come by as i enter this post. Maybe not

Setup:
  • Beosystem 7000 > 1611
  • 2x Beolab 3500
  • Beolink Active
  • Masterlink
Is there a converter or something out there that makes it possible to introduce another AUX source into the Masterlink system. Preferably from another place in the house?

Example: I listen to music from the Beogram in the main-room and i want to listen to radio in the linkrooms. I understand that the Beomaster can only handle one source, fair enough.
I know about the solution to use the PC-datalink on my Beolink Active to listen to that source in that room.
But is it possible to distribute that source to the other linkrooms with Beolab 3500?

Right now the solution is to put a Chromecast Audio in every room and use the solution from Soundsheavenly with the "test menu aux input" on the Beolab 3500.
The limitation is that it's either the Mainroom system or the Chromecast sound - which is an okay solution since the only thing that keeps the Beosystem 7000 in the house is the Beogram.

But has B&O never thought that maybe i want to listen to (net)radio in the office and kitchen while my wife listens to a record in the livingroom?
I might be overthinking this.

What are your inputs? :)

They actually have!

That is why they made the new NL-'speakers' as a Sound System.

Ech of these can be used individually as well as through linking to the other or some of them.

As for the ML, the only way will be the one, that you just described.

Add a CCA to each of the 'PC-inputs' and make different groups of these (use the Google Homeapp) in order to use these individually as well as in groups.

As for the BL3500, personally I would not do it that way, because you'd loose the linked sources of the main system (and it is a pia to activate the 'test input' each time you - or your wife - want to use it).

By the way - with NL you can keep your turntable for as long as you want. Connected to a line-in it can be distribut everywhere on the NL

Oh - just noticed, that you have 2 BL3500 and 1 Active Link.

That limits things a bit, I am afraid.

What do you mean by loosing your Linked sources? I cant just turn the 3500 off and then on again to exit test and return to the original link system?

The test aux thing Will not be used often, i dont Miss the aux things in my MCL system.

Im just thinking every scenario through before i do this instead of the more expensive NL/ML + M5 + A6 ;)

You'd have to unplug it from the ML (and make it a standalone solution), before entering the 'test mode'.

Sure you can do that - but it would not be very convenient for a daily use.

A setup with/including NL product has far more options.

an "older" soultion could be the addition of a Beocenter 2 or Beosound 4 to your setup.
Both are capable of distributing e.g FM-Radio to Masterlink while you listen to CD in the Mainroom.
The 1611 could be the Videomaster on Masterlink and the Beocenter 2 or Beosound 4 the audio master.

In general the easiest way to add multiple AUX-sources to a Beosound is using a good preamplifier connected to the AUX-IN.
Choose one where you can rename the inputs so that the display shows the real name of any source connected to the preamp - that makes life for all family members easier when you see e.g. "iTunes" in the display of the amp.

If you have a Beovision somewhere in your system, you could make that the master and add sources to it?, I did this at one point with a BV6-26 in my bedroom being the master- that had an Apple TV connected for watching films in bed, an external DAC and HDMI>Composite converter - it was set to DTV so I could distribute music through ML and play anything on the BS6500. I also connected an Internet Radio to it as V.Mem and could control it (Boscom Wifi Radio I think). The whole system worked flawlessly - I've since taken out the BS6500 and gone for a different solution. However given that a second hand BV will cost so little that could give you what you want.
