Got my Moment today, and it is all setup and cool :)
But one question..
What populates the inner ring ? I have added my Deezer account, and can see my collection with albums.
I thought the inner ring would play music from "collection" ?
The Inner ring is "not active", it is just dark grey and I cannot put the white circle anywhere but the middle and outer ring.
Does it need to learn the music I listen to from my collection before it becomes active ?
There is no DLNA server setup, so no local music. Only Deezer and TuneIn.

wise Moment
Weebyx:There is no DLNA server setup, so no local music
the middle and outer ring should be the same without a local server.
Carolpa: Weebyx:There is no DLNA server setup, so no local musicThere's your answer.
Really ??? Hmmm, the Moment i borrowed from my dealer, played a lot of music from the inner ring, without connection to any DLNA server ?
Problem solved... after 2 hours there now is music in the inner ring :)
Just my impatience acting up... sorry :)
Already loves this thing...
see the manual
removed: experience I couldn't and still can't explain (see quote next post)
Carolpa: see the manual it sounds impossible, but I think you played something from your dealer before. Similar experience after a repair. Remember the mash-up we dicussed before.

It works 100% as i should, the inner ring now is populated with my "collection" without any DLNA server. Only Deezer music.
Weebyx: with my "collection" without any DLNA server
Carolpa: Weebyx: with my "collection" without any DLNA serveryou mean "your Deezer" collection?
Yes, the albums I have "hearted" from Deezer.
i have also ordered a Moment - won't be here for a short while, but excited.
Had my CD collection ripped in FLAC, will live on a QNAP NAS...looking forward to reacquainting myself with my music..will post pictures once hooked up to the BV12-65/BS4/5.1 set up......
Glad to see the Moment is getting some more traction......
Would love to have an Essence remote in a different room (without essence unit) to control the Moment.....if only the Essence remote was wireless...
tick tock....
.
Present: BL90, Core, BL6000, CD7000, Beogram 7000, Essence Remote.
Past: BL1, BL2, BL8000, BS9000, BL5, BC2, BS5, BV5, BV4-50, Beosystem 3, BL3, DVD1, Beoremote 4, Moment.
No, Deezer Elite is exclusive to Sonos......slightly irritating, but didn't stop me in the end......
The Moment seems to be very cool now... :-)
others may be better advocates for the Moment than myself, but i have just ordered one......yes the lack of Tidal Hifi / Deezer Elite streaming is a shame, but thats not a dealbreaker for everyone.....like many, i will have be able to play my CD collection (ripped in FLAC) on the Moment, plus Deer streaming, TuneIn Radio and my vinyl, which is connected to its Line In......not a bad outcome by any means, though the interface has its quirks.....
combining local collections and streamed content neatly has proved not as straightforward as one might think......look at the mess Apple's Music App / iTunes was initially (and to a degree still is) as it has folded its streaming service in.......
not saying that the Moment is a holy grail, far from it, but i'm looking forward to spending time with one.......and not being tethered to my i-device 24-7, a personal choice i accept.....
seethroughyou:Why would anyone want this machine then if it can't play CD quality streamed music. The difference would be immediately obvious between MP3 and CD quality on a BL20,5,90...

Hard to tell!
I did this test with my H6's plugged in.
http://www.npr.org/sections/therecord/2015/06/02/411473508/how-well-can-you-hear-audio-quality
I had a hard time and had to listen to each block of samples 3-5 times to decide what to choose.....
....it was not a matter of 'immidiately obvious'.....for me.
N.B. I am not going to tell you my results ;-(
All I'll say is, that I would not even think about paying more for the Elite version of Deezer.
At the same price, yes - no problem there;-)
And the lack of support for 'Elite' on the BS Moment is nothing, that could keep me from buying 'this machine'.
But - have a listen for yourself, if you please.....to judge if it really is that 'obvious'....for you.
MM
There is a tv - and there is a BV
no rebuffs.....but you ask whats the point of the system? for some, they dont need to listen to CD quality all the time, and many users employ a connected NAS so that they can if they want to, with a FLAC ripped CD collection........not a question of being able to hear the difference, and i wouldn't overstretch your analogy, many can but aren't insistent on it at all times.........and some users (potential to otherwise) would like Deezer Elite, i'm not going to pretend otherwise.....but as i say many are happily using it to listen to their pre-existing collection at CD quality, and willing to accept a modest (by implication) compromise.......not every system / solution is for everyone, but that doesn't render the Moment pointless in general......Linn and Merdian i think offer a fuller experience, though thats another step up in cost all told......
Maybe we can agree on this:
The BS Moment is not a 'machine' for you.
However, it might be for (almost) the rest of us!
P.S. Redbook standard files compressed to 320 kbps sounds pretty amazing on a set of BL90's....
.....depending on the quality of the recording used.
how many people are actually using the BeoLab 90s, if thats your example of boundary pushing speaker tech? The overwhelming majority aren't, so the Moment, such that it is, works well enough i guess.....but yes, if you're pointing out that it isnt utterly compelling, you'll find many that agree with you......different from it being a pointless product though....and their target market isnt forever going to be the audiophile listener, to the extent that it ever was........and tastes evolve, even some B&O customers value convenience to a degree over strict audio fidelity......
said it better and more succinctly than i did......

calm down, there's other solutions out there in the market for strict audiophiles.....and retrograde is a bit strong.....
But if you use the Deezer app on the ipad you can select the highest resolution (i'm thinking this is elite) and then airplay
guess so, but not the neatest, and if you chose to bluetooth from an iDevice to the Moment, then i dont think you're getting FLAC streamed due to hardware limitations......
Ah... fair enough Sandy :-). Its another product i spose, and it would be good to have that all in the moment.
I was also looking up Naim last night and they make this lovely "Uniti" products with great connections. I would love B&O to make something like this - even as either the next Moment or a complement for.
People like my dad for example still want a CD player - finds anything else difficult. They even make a CD ripper!
Naim, Merdiian, Linn all do high end streaming solutions....but mostly pretty expensive.......BlueSound seem to be the best alternative.....thoguh in the end, comparisons are a bit redundant, everything has its pros/cons........Sonos can do it all i guess, but who wants to use their speakers....in the end, the issues with the Moment going back have largely been to do with it software working, as opposed to the 320 vs FLAC Deezer issue....

I did not want to turn this thread into a discussion about (lossy) compressed vs uncompressed file support - and even less into the weary discussion about standart/cd-speced vs socalled high resolutio.
That would be hiijacking the thread!
All I did was to react to the statement:
'Why would anyone want this machine then if it can't play CD quality streamed music.'
This is nonsense, since the BS Moment very well can stream uncompressed redbook/flac files or even 24/96 files (if that is what you want).
Just put these files on your computer/NAS, let a DLNA server organize these....and start to play.
That is a stream - an offline-steam, you could call it.
The only way to get an online stream of uncompressed/flac files would be to use the services of Tidal HiFi or Deezer Elite.
Both are - for different reasons - not available to the devices from B&O.
But don't blame B&O or the devices they make (including the Moment) for that.
And remember - this might change!
I surely see no reason, why B&O should not support this, if/when it will happen.
B&O will let us choose - I just stated my own choice.
There is absolutely no reason to 'go looking elsewhere' - the Moment is all, that you need.
Of cource, if you can't wait - you will have to look for solutions with support for HiFi or Elite or use a computer with Roon running or similar.
I guess the majority of the B&O costumers will appreciate the convenience of having a device like the BS Moment connected to their BeoLab speakers or to their B&O setup in general.
The BS Moment is not (!) a 'bad machine' and we don't have to wait for a 'better machine' to come from B&O.
Whether you like the interface with the MoodWheel and PatternPlay as the most prominent door to use your music or not, is another case.
Maybe that is worth another discussion!
Sandyb:Oh I'm in complete agreement I consider myself to be an audiophile compared to literally everyone I know, but of course not to many others.....but for many reasons I don't need to listen to at least CD quality all the time, so I am of a similar mind to you I suspect
