Millemissen:

Will be interesting to hear from someone, who has compared the 15 and the 17.

Maybe that will justify the change?

John o' Manchester, where are you?

Good video. I learned about the Beoplay and used it for my new H4s based on what I saw. Also, the benefits of the 17 versus the 15 .

Puncher:

Simonbeo:

The A3 became obsolete as soon as the Apple connector changed its size. This was beyond the control of B&O.

Simple really - Never ever rely on a dictator to earn a living! I said it at the time but apparently Apple were to be B&O's saviour!

Never trust a sociopathic megalomaniac. See companies making headphones with mics and line controls for iPhones now that the iPhone 7 has no phone jack.

I mostly agree with Jeff and Puncher. As much as I love B&O but they don't have a clue of their strategy, missing very good designers and quality. That's so sad to see.

B&O should be aware of consumer feedback.
For example on Amazon Germany the most helpful / top rated review about Beolit 15 is a negative one star review, stating that B&O doesn't repair your stuff after the 2 years warranty is over. And no, it is NOT my review Wink
I simply was badly surprised to see this review being top rated by customers:
https://www.amazon.de/Bang-Olufsen-portabler-Bluetooth-Lautsprecher/dp/B00SC9EW4G/ref=cm_rdp_produc

B&O should care about those things and communicate clearly how they plan to treat customers.
Of course that can't work if you mess up with many reincarnations of "more of the same" and you run out of parts much too quickly.

I still like my Beolit 12 in white as I can control it via Beo 4. It only misses 2 things: Bluetooth and IP-protection for outdoor use.

Regarding the dependence on Apple or Google: Both are dictators and don't give a ... about sustainability. Google experiments and let's their experiments fall if they are in the mood and support and products are gone immediately.
This is not a good or reliable base to operate in the long term for B&O and other dependable companies.

That's why an open standard like Bluetooth or DLNA should have priority over proprietary systems.

What should be a MUST on every Bluetooth-Speaker or Soundsystem from B&O:
A physical reset-button to set all things (including sound settings!) back to factory defaults or "0".

From a Beolit 15 perspective: I wouldn't know why I should upgrade to the Beolit 17? Even more bass? No, sorry, than I can buy those trashcans from "beats" :-)

But let the "normal" customers decide, not me as a Beomaniac and I wish to B&O that they have success and learn a few things...

The world (of technology) is ever changing.

P.S. My iDevices still have holes - I do not intend to scrap those as long as they work.

My A3 does a wonderfull job with an old iPad2.

If I will by the new H4, I am sure that I will gladly just use bluetooth ----- if my next iPhone should be without headphone jack.

What comes after that, we'll see then ;-)

regarding the remote:

Maybe (just an idea) it will be possible to pair a bluetooth remote with it. For example Essence Remote or Beoremote one BT

Did anybody try it on a Beolit 15?

Beolit 15 or 17? Did you actually try to pair a bluetooth remote with it?

I'M HERE! Thanks for that. I found this post by chance looking through the forum to see what people think of the new BeoLit 17.

I've been with B&O for 10 years now, probably about time I signed up to a BeoWorld account!

I was a bit delayed thanks to getting the BeoLit 17's a bit late and then my first upload was restricted due to copyright on a piece of music. Got there in the end.

Went to try it today.

Looks very nice without the compartment.

Didn't test sound, only wanted to test the app.

Set an alarm. Waited. Did not play anything at alarm time. No-go for me Sad

That's always a fear with these kind of devices. But, let's face it, who really is going to setup a BeoLit 17 as an alarm? Too big for your bedside table? And wouldn't you need to set it up every day or is there a repeat option?

I have a DAB radio alarm and, occasionally, the DAB signal goes down. When that happens, it's supposed to display a loud audio beep instead of the radio, to wake you up. However, there's being the odd occasion where it plays silence: nothing. So you're supposed to wake up to a low hiss or similar!

I guess it must be very very hard for todays engineers with this absolutely new thingy called "electronics" to build an alarm clock that works... reliable. Big Smile

It seems to be that one of the defining features of the modern,, technologically advanced world is that common devices and functionality that used to be reliable and simple have become complex and unreliable.

No, sound wasn't important. I am happy with the 15. Only reason to upgrade would be the added functionality. And as I suspected, it seems unreliable. And you can only choose one of the options at a time for the single button. Why not add 4 new buttons?

Leogoeswild,

I am new to the Beolit family so I am happy to hear that you are pleased with the 15.   I have two 15's (recently purchased) and I could not be happier.

I am now in the market for a Beolit.

Should I rather go for a 15 than the 17 as you have mentioned it is unreliable?

Beoplay app works as a remote when paired.

I solved the alarm mystery after a while of experimenting with various sequences - no thanks at all to manuals or B&O "support".

1. Connect your phone and speaker by BT

2. Open your music source app, for me Spotify. Start your playlist and pause or stop by sleep timer; keep the app open

3. Open the B&O App and program the alarm. Make sure One Touch Function is set to Alarm

4. On the speaker, press the One Touch Button to initiate

I've verified this a few days now. This sequence works for me. Skip #2 if you're using the built in alarm tone. Important thing I found was to press the one touch button to turn it on after the programming step on the app.
