After spending yesterday in London, i though i'd peruse some of the lovely properties i'd seen on Rightmove, but can't help just looking for their taste or lack of it in AV equipment.

I mean really what were they thinking?

Does anybody other Beoworlder end up doing this?

(Rioja, a Beosound 8 and the best of Blondie were abused during the making of this thread)

Yar Chris,

I'm passionate about architecture and often see 2, 3 - 10m£ houses BUT hardly any have B&O equipment in them.  Bizarre isn't it!  I love interior mags too AND STILL have to see a property with a BeoSound 8 in it or indeed BV10 even!  Although, the Editor of Livingetc is very kind to B&O products and often feature their press releases :)

It's madness. 20 million pound houses, and a dusty old LG sat in the corner! WT actual F!

Since when did being loaded ever guarantee taste or an interest in AV? Good on them for not buying it for buying's sake - which is much, much worse!

Ban boring signatures!

I often browse property sales ads just for fun. Seeing installed B&O over here is far and between  - an occasional Ouverture series music centre, a Beolab 6000 lurking in the corner sometimes, even a couple of BV7s. Not once have I spotted anything vintage.

The reason may be that a lot of the higher price apartments / houses never end up being advertized publicly, and I suppose B&O is generally more interesting to those who don't care to make a lot of noise about their money.

It's a subject that B&O should address to increase sales way beyond their current client portfolio. The lady of the house or interior designer should only have 1 make in make when dressing a house.

Clearly the houses I have seen follow a fairly traditional approach when buying high end labels, it just amazes me that after all the time, money and effort they then just buy a bulk standard tv in a house where "bulk standard" isn't the norm. Advertising in lady type mags?

Yar Chris,

As I mentioned, Livingetc magazine has always been kind to B&O and featured a pic etc of a new product but gotta say, the beautiful, contemporary houses featured in it very seldom have B&O in them and the house owners usually come from a creative background! Maybe B&O have a poor image with non B&O people. An example here is a very classy friend of mine who is a banker, in fact he's one of my best friends - he thinks of B&O as incredibly bling bling, as he put it 'Like Louis Vuiiton' when I showed him a BV9 a few years back , he was horrified and said it was the most vulgar thing he'd seen and walked out of the showroom. Damn! I can see his point for some of the range, for instance, I find the BV7-55 & BV12 horrific along with the BL12's - I just find them very poor taste! So maybe, this is what others think too.

Some of the B&O range is very classy like your BV10 etc but some is purely vulgar and very very poor taste - just look at that BV4 85" upwards etc!  I saw one in Harrods the other week and was simply horrified - couldn't help but notice the flickering screen too!

I know what you mean about the 4. Not only tacky but a crap picture to boot. Im still to see a Plasma that lives up to all the technical hype.

That "label" is long gone and has now been replaced by a "label."

You must be looking at the wrong houses and area,Look at sandbanks in poole, nearly all the houses have b&o installed, gaggenau, miele appliancesetc.

Darras hall and whinyard estate in northumberland is the same. Most of the really expensive houses I have seen around the world, have b&O or a multiroom custom install, like creston, runco projectors, lexicon, linn equipment etc.Sub zero, wolf appliances or miele, gaggenau.

Also top furniture and design classics from mies van de rohe,le corbusier, flos lamps.B&B italia sofas the list goes on,and they all compliment b&O aswell.Dont get me wrong you still get the flash harries who think a 65" lg plasma looks the nuts to show off to their ill informed mates, the same person would have chrome spinners on their car.

Its all down to personal taste not money. Most wealthy b&o owners I know are very discreet in their tastes, they have expensive tastes but buy timeless quality like expensive patek phillipe watches and classy b&o,were as the flash wealthy would have a diamond encrusted rolex and the biggest tv in the shop.

I dont want to keep naming places and other brands, but I was at marbella last month at my dads house, and was at a party in a very expensive house and it was full of b&O.The owner never had much of a clue, but told me he bought it as it was expensive and must be the best,I had to show him how to work it properly,he was clueless. He had lab 5s connected to a 9000 1 meter apart, then a bv9 beside it.I said he should have had the speakers connected to the tv,to benefit from the acoustic lenses. He then said his wife liked the look the way it was, whats the point more money than sense. ff topic slightly.

What are the TVs in pictures 3 and 21? Potentially stylish, but leaving all the STBs on show.

I used to regularly pass this house. It was hidden behind hoardings during an 18+ month refurb and extension.

Reputed to be the home of Fernando Torres before he moved to play for Chelsea. He probably didn't actually live in it for more than a few months.

The original house had very attractive leaded light windows. They were ripped out effectively destroying the original character of the house.

I find it remotely interesting as you also almost never will find any alternative energy sources used (and don't I worked on several of them) it's about personal views and values I suppose, perhaps general lack of good taste ....Architecture, art, music and so on.... or maybe they don't subscribe to same mags.... There are architecture fairs throughout the year in Houston - the modern designs always showcase B&O.

I have visited quite a lot of flats in London when I was trying to buy mine, and I was surprised how many people have some B&O.

I saw it on FB too and from the comments it turns out that it's a friend of a friend of a friend's parents house! Fairly headache inducing I should imagine or massive Cadbury fans!
