I just bought a Beovision MX6000 came with a Beolink 1000 remote and DVD 1, I am trying to use S video output of DVD 1 to the S Video of  Beovision 6000, it does not have user manual, and I need this forums help here please.

Would the Beolink 1000 remote work with Beomaster 5000 or the Beomaster 5500 or not?

Your help is really appreciated here.

Cheers

The full manual is on site, as is that for the DVD1. I think this is the page you need for now. Join as either a silver or gold member and you can get the whole file as well as the service manuals. Pretend the DVD1 is a B&O video player and it will work. Any reason you are not using a SCART lead? You will need to connect the data lead as well and the audio connections. If you use a SCART lead, that is all you need.

Click on the manual page and you can see all the image. The Beolink 1000 will work a BM5500 but not a 5000.

Hi Peter, Many Thanks for your help. I will try what this manual suggests. Regarding the use of Scart cable, the picture quality, would it be better with the use of Scart cable or you think the use of a S-Video cable would be better.

The DVD 1, I was told that it never came with its own remote unit, is that true? BTW, I paid  $200.00 CND, for Beovision MX6000, DVD1 and the Beolink 1000 plus the stand to go with Beovision, was that a good deal or you think I paid too much? I wish I know how much were the selling for brand new.

Cheers

The DVD1 uses the Beolink 4 as a remote but a Beolink 1000 will do. Scart is superior to S-VHS in most cases - it has the possibility of RGB input which is the equivalent of component. I cannot remember if AV1 allows RGB on the MX6000 though!!

Value for money is always a tricky one! New, a DVD1 would have cost GBP 750 in 2005 and the MX6000 in the region of GBP 1600.

Having said that, CRT televisions are now almost impossible to sell and the DVD1 is not exactly cutting edge! However I think you have a bargain - I would have been happy to pay that, as long as it all works!! I would suggest getting the manuals - either join as a silver or gold member here - join as gold now and you have a chance of winning a Beovision 6 this month!

Both AV1 and AV2 do, and I agree on the SCART normally being the better (and far easiest!) choice. Having said that, all of these TVs using the Unity / Unity 2 chassis have an awfully soft picture in RGB mode. You will get used to it if you don't watch composite (or off the air RF) signals as well... but if you do, the difference will make your eyes bleed and you might prefer the sharper picture from the S-Video input.

Also, you can't adjust the saturation of the RGB input. It may look very bland in comparison if you tend to tweak your pictures to be unnaturally colourful.

Hi Peter, Thank you so much for all that you have said here, it was very very helpful and I have the system going with the BM5500, the only thing I need to know, how do you turn off the LOUDN sing off the Beomaster5500?

Regards

Kal

I will post some pictures here of what I bought, you will get to see the condition of the Beovision MX6000, and it came with its own stand as well.
