Lauritz.com: Bang & Olufsen. 3 Beomaster 5000 samt 1 Beolab 5000 in the same auction.

But I only need one of those Beomasters...

Get them all and you will not have to worry about preset stations. :-D

The two at the bottom seem rather nice.

Well - this was before CD's and cassette players... So if you want an old 5000 system with as many units as the 'new' 5000 from the 80's -then that's the way...Wink Laughing

The ONLY Beo that I am buying right now is this stuff.

In fact, they are the only purchases I have made in a few years.

Everything else, except a few modern-day items are as good as guillotined.

These NEED to go to a BeoWorlder!

I´m pretty sure that a BeoWorlder got the highest bid this very moment...

Those don't look very nice at all.

I'd pass, but I guess someone like Frede won't!

Well if it is a Beoworlder he should let us know after auction, there may be someone interested in buying the surplus.

Marktplaats in Holland? What's so rare about these units?

I am in touch with Frede at the moment. He now only buys privately after seeing the items.

I agree that cosmetically  these units don't look too good when you take a close look, and different sellers have different ideas about what 'Working' means.

Not that rare - simply the best made system ever made by B&O. At the time this system was massively ahead of the opposition. Even today, the performance betters many so called high end systems. Frede restores these to better than original specification and a fair few of us cherish the results. Paired with the Beogram 3000 Thorens, this is an immense system. I suggest a visit to Classic Audio is in order!

By the way, Frede's web site gets better every time I visit it. For lovers of these products, it is an essential visit! As a very lucky owner of one of Frede's systems, I can thoroughly recommend his services as you will receive a system as good as it possibly can be. I would always suggest going to get it yourself - partly as it is the best way to transport it, but mainly to meet Frede who is one of the dying breed of true gentlemen.

He sure is but he doesn't do the restorations himself anymore but done by his engineers, at least that's what he told me a while ago. Still have to pay him a visit.. Would like to meet the master in person!

The true gentlemen you find on this forum is amazing, I will buy me a tobacco pipe and a gentleman home coat, just to look like one Big Smile

The auction is over.

I can now have one of those Beomasters, please.

It can be an odd market with these and I have seen much fluctuation with high/low prices between the amp and the tuner.

About on par if a bit low for similar conditioned units in the states. Don't forget there is very little of this gear here!

I probably would have gone at least 50% stronger if not more with some booze in me.

All in all, a good end price favoring the buyer, IMHO.

Count 20% in provision to the auction house + some fees and we are talking about USD 500.00 +, a bit low in my opinion.

With a couple of cubas under my vest I would have gone to (counting the 20 %) USD 800.00

Remind me to send you 80 -not 151 rum!

Or, on second thought  -151 and you may be passed out on the keyboard at auction close!

I'm happy to have paid €150 for my superb, working Beolab 5000!

And thanks again to Leslie for selling me the matching tuner, and to Martin for the tuner rosewood top! (click to enlarge Embarrassed)

The 'Frede treatment' will take place when money allows it...
