My Standard Def. BV5 is working superbly and I have no intention of replacing it in the near future.

However, because it is so well built and fits our room so well in a design/ architectural sense, I am wondering whether it would make sense at some point in the future (i.e.when something big fails or there is a forced change to HD) to simply remove all the electronics and plasma screen, and insert a new cinema sound system linked to a new LED screen. Using a lintronics controller I figure that the BV5 could become the very latest in TV still with Beo4 control for less that £800 and we would keep that iconic BV5 look.

Has anyone tried doing this?

Don't you like the BeoVision 10 ?

It has the design code of the BeoVision 5 but with a new fresh look and a less massive appearance

True, but I like the BV5 with its bold aluminium framing much more.
