latest firmware bs5?

Hi.

I have a few years old bm5/bs5. I don't think it ever has been updated... I've heard it should been done automatically but...

The screen :sais

application                  3.15.xxxxxxxx

BS5 main firmware   1.2a

BS5 boot firmware     0.03a

BM5 ml firmware         2.23

BM5 ml pcb                 4

BM5 mb bios              1.04

BM5 os  image           4.14

BM5 os update           414

 

I've tried to make a manual update, and it worked after I made a recovery, but the same version was installed...

I want to stream spotify from my cellphone and need a later firmware.

Please help me.

My BS5 Encore is 1.3.6 but i think that the Encore and the Normal BS5 have different versions.  Yours mentions ML etc which I don't have.

When i rang the store the other day he said he was on 1.2.something, but you should call the store.  I think they can push an update out to you if needed and then you go to maintenance and then update software.

What happens when you go to Mode > Settings > Maintenance > Update Software > Yes

I was into a store and they showed me their BS5 (not encore) was on 1.33a. They  know how to help me... When I try to update the software as you suggest it updates to the same old version.

Hi,

I am in the same case. After a change of the motherboard 2 years ago, my BS5 wouldn't update.

I asked my dealer and he said the current software was to old to update.

So, the solution is to make an update with an USB key.

You can bring the BM5 to your dealer or better, the dealer comes to your house, make the update and check with the BS5 if it's OK.

Thanks! Sounds like the answer i'm looking for.

Unfortunately I live on an island and have quite a journey to a BO store. Do you think there's any chance to get hold on a USB key and make it on my own?

That USB key is obvious (as I happen to know) the servicetool for the BM5. So it is probably impossible to get it.

It contains several options, like aligning serial numbers from the Harddrive, Bios etc.

Unfotunatly,

I think Beobuddy is right.

The USB key is ready for dealers with some options they can choose to make the update.

Maybe your dealer can give you the key with the "user manual".

But it's "risky" Crying

Thank you all for the support. I will call  bring thM5 to the dealer, make an appointment and then bring the BM5 so they make the update.

Well, that's a pretty early version!

Current version is 6.05.xx for the application.

My guess is that your BS5/BM5 is update locked, which happens to be the case with some of the earlier versions (for eg the dealers display demo devices).

My recommendation would be to ask your dealer to remaster the apparatus... hoping he won't charge you too much for it :-)

About the firmware and the update, Carolpa, on the general forum has an answer.

You should check in the parameters menu of the BS5 if the BM5 has a serial number.

Apparently, after a replacement of the motherboard, B&O forgot to add the serial number in the BM5 configurator. So, without this serial number, no update anymore !

And now, the question is : Can we add the serial number ourself, or must we call the dealer ?

It ended up with me taking the BM5 to the dealer, they´r trying to fix it for freeSmile

So now, after over three months they sent it to BO to fix it, before that some guy from BO tried to access the BM5 that was at my dealer via internet, but without successUnsure

I spoke to the dealer this friday and they was working on it right then.

I dont wanna know how much this will cost me.Crying But hopefully i´m able to use it again in a couple of weeks....

Sorry to hear that Ginzel,

But as you say, you'll be able to use it again in a couple of weeks.

For me, i think i'm going to my dealer with the BM5 and let him do the update.

Hopefully, i could hear music from my BeoSound 8 ! Yes - thumbs up
