I for one am certainly looking forward to the exciting continuation of this new thread and the general outrage from the UK when the premises is turned into a pizzeria or such. As usual from the UK posters, highly relevant topics for the General Discussion & Questions forum....
When will the UK moderators finally provide a UK forum (or maybe even better a England forum as to not drag down Scotland and Ireland in this drivel) so that LOCAL English topics can be discussed? Or maybe Lee can inform me that I am again free to choose what I choose to read or not.
Maybe the otherwise highly successful Italian Forum can be renamed and put to better use in and English Forum instead?

Oh dear, there was no intention on my part to offend anyone. Surely any store closure anywhere is sad news. Or is there a geographical bias on this forum of which I was unaware?
I find it very easy to skip, what is not of interest for me.
And besides - even if I sit in Denmark (and partly Germany) - I find it interesting to hear about what goes on in the UK.
So, keep us/me informed.
However, I need no lamenting in several posts afterwards - if that shop turns into a pizzaria, it probably is why people are more interested in pizza's than in B&O gear.

@ thorne, no, there is no bias and your post was perfectly understandable. It's always sad when a dealer closes. I've been (and still am) friends with dealers who have closed their doors for the last time, and it was a real wrench for them as well as the customers. I too remember the store being Leonard Booth when I moved to Eastbourne in 1989 and I remember him having Roberts Radios in the window!
In this case, the owner of B&O Eastbourne lives at least a couple of hours drive from Eastbourne and over the years has grown tired of having a store so far away where he cannot keep a close eye on what's going on. They've had a variety of good staff (Scott, the old manager was good), bad staff, and pretty awful staff in there (from what ex-customers have told me) who put a lot of local people off the brand. B&O Brighton, who are a slick operation with good staff and a very motivated owner, have clearly picked up plenty of business from the area as they are doing really well. Perhaps this has impacted the store too...
I think it was the owners intention to eventually retire to Eastbourne, but his plans changed. We're not 'friends' as such - but he does run a couple more dealerships in North London which seem to be doing perfectly well, and he's a seasoned business owner who has my respect for what he does.
South Street (where the store is) is adjacent to Grove Road, which is becoming the 'Foodie' area of Eastbourne all of a sudden - so the Pizzeria quip may end up coming true!!
There's another business based in Eastbourne which specialises in Bang & Olufsen though... I can't think of the name though

He seems offended by the existence of the UK and its inhabitants becoming emotional about the loss of another shop. Eastbourne? Don't think so.

I doubt it... the owner will just transfer it to his other two stores!
By the way, you are right about the staff. Scott was indeed very good. Installation service, apart from one or two notable exceptions, was iffy, in many cases carried out by sales staff
Being a founding member of this site I have been sad to see the deterioration of it over the years and therefore choose to stop being an active member a few years ago after another shop closing thread.
Irrespectively I will "again" leave, but will sat that I prefer three postings of relevance than 8942 postings of usual *** speak,

Founding member or not - if your only 'B&O interest' is how many shops are closing, I fully understand that you are about to leave 'again'.
Beoworld is about much more than ''shop closing'.
I think the evolution of retail is relevant to B&O too. With Play forming a great proportion of revenue I believe in buying from your local store. This is as opposed to on-line ,which is being pushed by the company and hopefully ensures there will still be B&O shops on the high street. The products deserve more than an icon on a website to sell them as they're tactile and must be seen in real-life.

I totally agree and I'm in a similar position to you , in that I can walk to a shop , and buy my new headphones for example.
