Beogram 5000 spinning-noise

Hi,

Just recived my scond-hand Beogram 5000 and I´m superhappy about it, all the functions seems to be working. It´s just one problem and it´s an ticking sound whenever the platter spins. The sound is there when playing, and even if the power is of and I manually spins the platter by hand it´s the same sound. 

It sounds just like a spinning casset on a bicycle or a automatic watch ticking. The sound is not that loud but you clearly hear it (especially from the left side of the turntable). 

Do anyone know what the problem is and how to fix it? I have no skill in vintage turntables but can probably follow an easy instruction if it´s something I can fix for myself.

Could be the 3 suspension leaf springs need adjusting. The platter should be raised a couple mm and equal on each side. Easy to bend the two you see to get close to level, takes a few try's to get it right.

It could be the main spindle has partly come loose from the chassis and sits at an angle or is wobbling.

It could be a bent platter or sub platter.

It could be a broken piece of the chassis is caught and ticks the sub platter.

It could be a spare cartridge caught underneath.

The plinth could have been cracked along its base and allows the floating chassis to wobble when in use.

These are the first few things that come to mind, I've had some bad luck with online auctions and amateurs shipping fragile Beograms, if you can't tell.

Lift off the platter.
Take off the belt.
Rotate the motor and subplatter by hand and listen where the noise comes from.

From your description my money would be on bad brushes in the motor.

Thank you for the response and sorry for my late answer! 

I have tried taking the belt of and spin the platter and manually and there´s no sound anymore! Can´t find anything wrong with the engine, it´s keep on clicking as long as it´s running. 

I opened the player up and couldn´t find anything else wrong, is it just the engine that has given up? Is it any trouble keep on playing with it (I can barely hear the sound with music on) or can it be hurtful for the player?

 

Did you try rotating the motor separately by hand?

Yes, if i rotate the motor alone it makes the sound!
