Dear Bang & Olufsen employees and Beoworld forum members,

simply writing "I love Bang & Olufsen" within my master thesis is not accepted by my professor Big Smile.
So I sincerely want to ask if you can send me official measures that are implemented at Bang & Olufsen in Denmark / Europe to ensure sustainability and durability (electronical, mechanical) of the products as well as measures to protect the environment.
I want to mention Bang & Olufsen as a POSITIVE example using strategies and measures against obsolecence and pro durability and sustainability.

I remember from an old Video about testing the equipment with some torture (cigarettes, shaking...) to ensure that they are working after years as on day one.

Example:
I have found an official statement from Loewe informing that there TVs are designed to work 20000 hours / 10 years and that they are technically designed not to strain electronic components like e.g. capacitors  more than 75% of their specifications.
Miele proudly explains, too, that their machines are designed to work for 5000 program cycles / 20 years.

But:
As I'm a B&O fan I'm searching for such information from the people that infected me with this Beovirus. B&O should take a pride in their durable products, too. Are there identical or even better guidelines from B&O?
Yes, there's a website about sustainability at Bang & Olufsen but that's not what I'm searching for: I want specific measures to use as a positive example for companies that care. A personal reply from Geoff Martin would be very cool for mentioning as a source within my master thesis. Wink

I see the different kinds of converters (e.g. NL/ML-Converter) from B&O as a contribution against (planned) obsolescence as they allow to use older equipment with newer and don't force the customer to get rid of older equipment. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

It would be great when to use official data which could be sent via email if it's not intended to be posted here. I will answer all required questions and send you the information you need.
Do good things and talk about it.

Thank you in advance

Thomas

"Constant efforts are made to find holistic and long-term solutions to ensure that the interest of product performance, design and life time are in balance with the impact on the environment. When a product is disposed of most of it should be recycled and incorporated into a new life cycle."

there was that repurposing project...

Thank you for the link. I've already read the company information in the past but this is only the generic corporate responsibility subject without specific information.
