I think I caused a shortcut when solding speaker sockets, because both channels of Speaker 2 is dead. Is there a fuse to change or can another component be damaged?

Best regards

Probably another component.

What piece of equipment is this in regards to?

Thanks for your reply, Peter. It's the Beomaster 5500 I'm reffering to. Do you have any idea of what component may be damaged? I've read that when Speakers 1 are defunct it may be the mute relay, which may be the reason that  but in this case it's Speakers 2.

Hi,

try some headphones at the front. If you get the sound there the amplifier still works.

Also you can try the speakers 1 connection with (hopefully) working plug/cable combination. Same here when you get he sound at speakers 1 the amplifier itself still works.

Thanks both of you! I found the problem. A connection to ground on the circuit board was defect, and by re-soldering it all worked.

While having a dialouge with you experts, here's another question: If I want to connect to a computer, apple air or similar to my Beomaster, would the best way be through CD (DIN) or through Tape2/Aux? What's by the way the Line In/Out connections good for? They are bridged on my beomaster

Regards

Göran.

Hi,

glad to hear that you found the problem and fixed it.

Yo can use CD or Tape2 both are equal concerning the signal level. The AUX plug could also be used but is normaly used for a linked TV set.

The LineIn/Out could be used to loop an equalizer into the system. The signal that is selected to listen to is fed to LineOut goes through the equalizer (or other sound effect system) and comes into the amplifier through the LineIn. In your case it's bridged by the dummy plug. Wink
