Which setup would you recommend for a country cottage living room. I really like the Beolab 3's but the Mrs isn't convinced - they need to be small but of good sound quality. Currently having to listen via an A1 or the Beolit 12 which isn't really cutting the mustard.

Beosound 8, Beotime, Beocom 4, Beo 5, Lutron Rania, MacBook 15" (Mid 2015), iPad Pro, iPhone 6S, B&O Play H3, Beolit 12, Form 2, A8 Headphones, B&O Play A1, B&O Essence

Small and good sound quality. What about BL17s if your other half isn't keen on BL3s.

Depending on your preferred source you alternatively could try s BS2.

I would get 3s. Had them for a while in our house which is very old fashioned and they are small and discreet. They produce good sound and have a good sound stage . You can always add a sub woofer if you want but I found 3s to have plenty of bass. They are modern looking but especially in black are not overpowering. My wife thought they were cute. There again, she has to put up with Pentas and M100s in our sitting room so maybe I have beaten her down!

another vote for the 3's.....have some, they're pretty darn good......of course there are better and bigger options, but will be a pretty good step up from the BL12......i'd even take them over an A9, both being similar prices (-ish)....

Which means that this is mainly for music then ?

If you want separates What about Beolab 12?

Why doesn't she like the 3s? Too "weird looking"? 12 is more discrete.

What about a BS35? If it's a country cottage generally there is an area on the side that you place things. I think a 35 in a country cottage would be really special.

You don't want anything out of place in a classic country cottage, so I'd recommend a Beolab 5000 amplifier, Beomaster 5000 tuner, Pair of Beovox 5000 Mk3s and one of the Beogram 3000s.

Not much room left in the room with Beovox 5000s! Big Smile

Of course a set of Quad 33 and 303 with BBC LS3/5As would be nice!

I agree that a BS35 would look nice, being quite discreet. Also, I've always thought that a BeoPlay A6 would look right at home in a country cottage with the Kvadrat wool.

Is the BS35 as good as the BL3's? I haven't had chance to listen to the BS35 yet.

only so much merit in comparing them surely? one is a one point speaker, the other is left / right stereo speaker...given that you are starting with a one point speaker (BeoLit 12) then i guess the 35 will just be a better version of that type of sound.....guess the main advantage of the 35 is connection options....
