Hi !
I have absolutly no experience within this scope!
I just found my moms old speakers in the basement and I want to see if I can get to use them. The wires to connect is cutted just a few cm from the speakers. I also found an old "Denon precision audio component" where it looks like the connection to a speaker is just the wire itself screwed into without an end plug.
So I need to replace the wires i guess, can I do that myself?
And also if i wish to drop the Denon (dont even know if it works), do you have ideas for something else to buy and use, not too expensive?
Thank you!
Hi Simonemna,
Welcome to Beoworld! Your Beovox S45-2 speakers can be used with any regular amplifier or music system, via standard 2-wire speaker cables. You just need a couple of 2 pin DIN sockets to connect onto the wires to fit the recessed plugs on the back of the speakers:-

If you decide not to use the Denon amp, a 1970's B&O Beomaster amp (eg. Beomaster 1900) from ebay would be a cheap and cool way to get the speakers working.
Kind regards, Steve.

Are you sure you have S45.2s? The later S45 have captive leads whereas the S45.2 has a male plug in a recess - If that is the case, it will pull out and you can splice the wires into the remaining lead in the first event. Later S45s are rather different in appearance - they have a two piece front grille.

Good point Peter!
Simonemna, if you are able to check the type number of the speakers please (this should be printed on a sticker on the back) or if you can please confirm whether the speakers have a fitted cable or a recessed plug, we can then confirm what you need.
Thank you for your answers!
The back of the speaker says:
Beovox S45-24-8 ohm 45(75)WATT
PS. If it is a plug sitting in a hole in the speaker, it is not easy to get out just by using the fingers.

Didn't you say that there was a few cm's of wire left? Then you should be able to pull the plug out from the hole. Maybe you'll need a Flat Plier, if it is stuck. But you should be able to pull it out.
After cleaning it from 30 year old dust and fun, I was able to get the plug out. It looke like those 2 pin DIN. So I guess if I just find some new of them with a bare wire in the other end, I can try connect it to the Denon.
No problem, I have the 2 pin plugs and leads available here if this is of interest:-

The plugs at the other end can be easily removed to use with the Denon amp.
