Dear fellow members, would you be so kind to read my email and offer any suggestions on how I can resolve the following problem, the Beocord 5500 tray will not open and close without some help, then it will slowly crawl in.

I found a guide on how to open up and get into the Beocord 5500. This I managed to do successfully without breaking anything. All it proved was that all the belts were in place.

The player does play the tapes OK and music comes out the speakers.

What I noticed when I reassembled the player was that the door will open and close very slowly with the tiniest of nudges. I was living in a hot country for 4 years and wondered if this was perhaps detrimental to the tension in the belts? What would you recommend, replacing the belts? Can anyone point me in the direction of where to purchase them?

- Belt slipping.
- Seized lubricants at the large pulley.
- Perhaps both.

Hi Martin,

Have you yet found a solution to replace the tyres (part 1011/28) that have a large flat spot?

I have two machines with this problem and, although belts are new, the drawers won't slide out on their own because of this.

It's on my to-do list.

I thought it would be! Stick out tongue

By the way Martin, congrats on your long-awaited BG1000/1800/3000 belt. I'll have to try one, although the old ones are very durable, unless one chops it off by accident on the edge of the subplatter...
