Surprised to see this whilst on the STB website.. Interesting idea and looks pretty good. Not sure exactly how the CD display fits in though. Available 1 July for £650.

Have a look at Peter Pan thread...

The display is on top of the back part of the CD player.

Yes, saw it at the conference and looks very good, a great after-market bit of kit...available through your dealer, and we include local free installation....

Honestly - at that prize you sure should.

Anyway, what is there to install?

Plug in 2 cables......

Cute idea however this just highlights how erm.. specific use case the Moment is - a network player. Not really a system hub at all. Looks good however the CD controls are buttons on the side, Moment itself of course has no control. Plus it uses the only other input to the Moment.

Don't understand why anyone needs to play physical CDs, rip it lossless and you're done. Totally understand purchasing the disc for the aspect of nice coverwork and physical back up though.

I tiny NAS would have been more useful or some sort of multi connection, that or the Moment should have had a drive to begin with.

I use my BS5 CD ripper and then copy the tracks from the BM SSD to my NAS Thumbs Up

I suspect there are still plenty of people out there who have no desire or ability to rip and use a nas. My father for one. Many of B&Os traditional user base could still fall into this category.

True and I don't disagree however b&o of today don't seem to care about physical media. Much less the 'traditional' hifi buyer. Which makes sense as their existing boxes would be well severed in those use cases. A Beosound 9000 is basically perfect for that plus it integrates quite well.

Again my point was that the Moment is a very specific use - personally it's less useful than a Beosound 5 from lack of connectivity and requirement of external NAS.

Though STBbrackets floor stand for it looks awesome.Perfect

I can't help but ask the following questions:

- Why did they mount the display at a 90 degree angle?

- Why didn't they put the buttons on the back next to the display?

- Why didn't the put the CD slot on the right hand side instead?

These aesthetic annoyances aside, I will probably buy one anyway.

It looks like a computer cd drive.

Specifications are not so good imho

Of course there are still those, who want 'physical media'!

IMO stored music files/music services vs physical media is not a matter of either/or!

But for a company/B&O, that makes music playback solutions (and devices) for the future, there is no need to spend man power on making a player for CD's.

The Moment CD player is a nice opportunity, if you want/need) the physical media, especially if you have the Moment as your main/only music player.

It is expensive, yes - but I guess, that the makers must be sure, that there are enough buyers for it.

Costumers, who still own an 'ML-audiomaster/cd player combo' however, would be better off using the BeoLink converter to integrate this with the Moment.

That would give them full control (via physical remote or app) of the functions of the CD player instead of the stationary button controls on the Moment CD device.

By the way - a BluRay player in a NL-setup would also do the trick.

We all have different needs --- and having different ways to achieve, what we need, is always a good thing.

The Moment CD player looks great - and it is a nice 3rd party addition to the B&O portfolio.

Fair Play to STB, but anyone who thinks they need this and a Moment has obviously been missold!

for me an NL/ML Converter and a BS 3000 / 9000 feels like a more loyal solution to the cd / B&O heritage!

BV Harmony 65 / Eclipse 55 / BL 50 / 19 / 18 / BS 2 all brass

BV Horizon 48 / V1 40 / BL 17 / Beoplay S3 all black

V1 / BL 3 / BS Essence MKII / Beoplay A3 all white

BS Moment / BS 3000 / BS 3200 / BL 400 all silver

Headphones / bluetooth speakers / BLC NL-ML / BLGateway

I know…B&O virus has grown on me !

I really cannot complain about this. The Beolink2 app is able to control the audiomaster linked to the NL/ML converter.

Maybe the GUI layout in the new app will be better?...
