I have today opened my Beomaster 900M to make a note of the lightbulb sizes / models which appear to have failed.
I extracted the bulbs and tested them with a multimeter and they are actually all good.
What else could be causing the front face not to be illuminated?
I also found stuffed inside an envelope containing the schematics, which was nice.
I checked the 2 fuses on the side chassis and they are okay too.
Found a 3rd fuse underneath on the mainboard which was badly corroded. Cleaned that up and now the stereo light comes on when in tape and turnable modes are switched on.
Okay so I removed the 2 fuses from the side chassis and 1 fell apart in my hands - guessing that is not good but easy to replace tomorrow.
I've cleaned all the fuses but still the two lamp that back-light the display are not coming on. The bulbs and fuses are good.
With the Bombaster on I'm not detecting any voltage at the transformer (I followed the lamp wires back to i). Seems that side of my transformer is dead.
Anywhere I can buy a replacement transformer?
And you keep in mind, that this is AC?
