Hello!  So I stumbled across a Beosound 9000 in an estate sale auction the other day and maybe I was a bit ambitious, but I bought it...  ...sight unseen...  I think for the price I will be alright.  They say it powers on and seems to function, but they had to speakers to test it.  I am heading to pick it up this weekend.  Anything I need to look for on it?  Anything I need to know about transporting it?

Thanks Beofamily!

You can transport it easily. There are no transport screws. But there is a small plastic tool you should try to get hold of as you will need it to ensure the placement screws are adjusted correctly when you get it home. Also, if it is a pin-protected model don't forget to get the PIN code!

Thanks!  In the event that it is PIN protected, is there a way around that if they do not have the PIN?  I was not aware they had that option.  I highly doubt they would have the PIN considering its an estate sale...  But lets just hope it is not PIN protected...  :)

The later 9000 models have the PIN code. I believe a dealer can provide a master code if you don't have the PIN. However I suspect that they would have to check with B&O that the unit wasn't reported stolen first (otherwise the PIN protection would be pointless).

Perhaps someone else can confirm this?

Support the glassdoor. Take some bubblewrap or foam to put between the aluminium surface and door.

Otherwise you might break the plastic part inside the hingegear.

According to B&O you are allowed to open the glassdoor by hand to remove the cd's when the BS isn't attached with it's powercord.

But the plastic insert becomes brittle over the years and can break.

Replacing involves a complete motorgear which is rather expensive.

Well, I picked it up!  Seems to be in excellent shape.  Haven't had time to do much other than plug it in and make sure it powers up.  The door seems to function smoothly as does the CD mechanism.  Just need to wire it up and see if I can get some sound out of it!

Is there anywhere to run a serial number to see more details about it?  such as year of manufacture?  Any easy way to tell MKI vs MKII vs MKIII?

Thanks!!!

Behind the controlpanel (which you can lift out),  you will find the serialnumber and typenumber. The typenumber indicates the mark.

So the type # is 2563.  This would be a MK II, correct? Sorry for all the questions, I was just super excited to get this thing!
