I found this small gray rubber part on the bottom of the right hand side of my Beocord 8004. There is a second one in place in a hole on the circuit board.
Any ideas where this part is supposed to go?

Hi Jeff,As you said, there should be one behind a lamp on the display board.
This is from one of my Beocord 9000 units.
Here is another picture with the foam plug removed. Perhaps someone removed the one from yours while working on it, couldn't find it and replaced it with another one.

Your photo looks virtually like my 8004 circuit board. Apparently, I have an extra part on my hands. Thank you for the enlightenment!
Now if only my new repair using epoxy instead of Super-Glue works, I will be home free. (Thank you Martin for the advice.)
